But yes this is a great song off a great album.

I think why you wanna trip on me sounds more Prince inspired than this. This one sounds like a song one could break, pop and lock to, like a long dance interlude in the middle of the album. I know most mj fans on this board are indifferent to the Jacksons after what went down, but I got so excited when they performed it at the Unity tour and danced to it. What a big surprise!

I heard R. Kelly wanted to do some tracks on this album back when he was in PE, but he was pretty unknown then so it didn't happen.

I heard rumors Dr. Dre was supposed to produce for Dangerous to... but lawd i can't imagine what kind of song that would have been

Thats interesting didnt know that! I think Heavy D was the better choice since he was doing New Jack himself.

I don't know if Dr. Dre was supposed to produce anything for the Dangerous album, but Dre turned down production requests from both Mike and Madonna. Mike was also turned down by Kraftwerk in the mid-1980s, but they turned down collabs from everyone including Elton John. Mike was supposed to work with John Taylor & Nick Rhodes (Duran Duran), but there were scheduling conflicts and Roger Troutman originally worked with Mike on what became Smooth Criminal, but his version wasn't used. Teddy Riley first worked on The Jacksons album 2300 Jackson Street, including the title song.

Michael did not request to work with Dre. That was a rumor around the early 00's after Invincible came out and Dre responded to the rumor insisting that he wouldnt work him or something like that. His fake because he said more positive comments about when he passed.

I love duran duran, they were at their peak with wild boys and when working with nile rogers, I thought it mirrored sounds on the Bad album that would follow, so I would also love to hear Smooth Criminal please

Never heard it, but Roger is mentioned in the Bad album 'Thank You' credits. Somebody on a website was talking about Smooth Criminal. It might have been on Gearslutz, don't exactly remember, it was years ago that I read it. Here's some photos:

^ that's not so bad, he was successful and if he worked with MJ, maybe he would have gotten lazy after or not being able to top himself commercially, kind of like quincy after bad even if some successes like tevin campbell and tamia did well

but a lot in the hip hop community respected him too, such as the neptunes who wanted to work with him and the tracks ended up going to justin timberlake, and those wyclef collabs during botdf, I wonder if there were supposed to be more, that would have been nice

That is not a reliable source and Dre does not specifically state whether it was Michael or his people. Even before Dre made this statement it was a rumor surfacing Michael was interested but I HIGHLY HIGHLY doubt it.

It sounds like to me he would have been intimated more than anything.

Thats like saying I dont want to play with Stevie Wonder because he can play 50 instruments

If it was someone in Mike's camp that originally spoke to Dre, that name would not mean anything to the general public, so it wouldn't make much sense to mention it at what is probably the red carpet at an awards show. It would be like The Beatles mentioning Ken Scott in an interview. The article does state that Mike's spokesperson says there were discussions. Dre probably turned down Madonna for the same reason.

Yeah exactly. Even Michael wanted to work with Janet and called during rhythm nation era, but Janet turned him down cause she wanted to prove herself some more instead of riding his coat tails . She said yes when she got a call during the Janet tour. I also noticed her album sales went down after scream though she had the biggest contract, do you think this could be cause being side to side by mj was hard to top? I think she was still awesome after it obviously, but still wonder how they dropped when she made an excellent record after

He was always bigger than her and I think for Janet her reason for not wanting to work with him in HER particular case benefited her in the long run. I didnt know Michael wanted to work with her during the RN era.

I always wonder why those two never did more music together and why she never asked to collab with MJ.... now thinking about it, if they had did more music together it probably would not have been as beneficial for Janet because of her last name and MJ being the bigger star.

In Dre's case his head was a bit swollen. I still HIGHLY doubt Mike would want to work with him

Speaking of Dangerous, it celebrated its 21st anniversary on Monday, November 26th. Thriller will be celebrating its 30th this Friday. Isn't it a coincidence?
