Saw these guys working as a trio in a small club in Santa Fe about 10 years ago as an opening act for Leon Russell and they blew me away.
I was way impressed, especially with what drummer Alan Evans could get out of his ever so spare drum kit.
I see in the live vid you posted that he's still playing with just a kick, a snare, a single tom and a couple of cymbals.
They came back to town the next year with a sax player and killed it again.
The world is a better place because cats like these are keepin' the B3 vibe alive.

They've come a long way.

He's a real concise and to-the-point player. Nothing fancy. Set the groove and drive it.
Around the time period you're referring to, the sax player was probably Sam Kiniger.
