An amazing new version of this classic – with an insane amount of previously unreleased work! The core Trouble Man soundtrack is a heck of a wonderful surprise from an artist that most folks really only knew as a singer – a fantastically funky blacksploitation score, conceived and composed by Marvin himself – and served up with some occasional vocals that work beautifully with the album's cool instrumental grooves! The set's easily one of Gaye's most righteous records ever – almost a second chapter to What's Going On, but more instrumental – and like that classic set, it really shows the whole new range of vision that Marvin was able to work in the studio. Gaye gets a bit of arranging help on some tracks from Gene Page and JJ Johnson – and the album's filled with great cuts – including the landmark "T Plays It Cool", plus other gems like "Don't Mess With Mister T", "Main Theme From Trouble Man", "The Break In", and "T Stands For Trouble". But the core album is only 1/4 of the 2CD package – as the set also features The T Sessions, which includes rare alternates and unusual recordings from the album sessions – plus Trouble Man Original Film Score – a whopping 20 more tracks from the original soundtrack of the movie, with lots of music that's different than Marvin's commercially released album! all of the Marvin Gaye remasters are extraordinary....FILLED with lots of unreleased songs,demos,alternate versions,etc.They have done an amazing job with his rich catalog.
I expect this one will be the same high quality.It's on my Christmas list | |
