So what say YOU?

Def the Freddie version.

The minute I heard that they incorperated "doors slamming" into the drums playing, I cracked up lol that is a helluva view to imagine from somebody.

In fact, I also love their other collaboration.

The first time I've heard the demo version of State Of Stock recorded by Michael & Freddie was back in 2009 on YouTube. And I still believe THAT version is the better version. The production on this funk-rock tracks is more stripped down and you can actually hear all of the guitar and bass riffs.

They made the right choice going with the Jagger version.

Btw, absolutely hate the track.

When it was released, some station played it repeatedly for a number of hours straight.

Hence the HATE!

Jimi Hendrix impersonator Randy Hansen was involved with the writing.

always loved the track. never knew there was a FM version. its aiiight. not better though. upon first listen, he seems to not STAND OUT in the track. Mick managed to put his "signature" on the track in small ways like with ad libs (definitely at the end). i know sometimes that stuff comes later, but i just didn't really HEAR Freddie on the track. they made the right choice

If the production was better, & a few things were cleaned up, I'd go with the FM version. nod

Well, I should've said "A Jimi Hendrix Tribute Artist".

He was one of the first and in his heyday, quite good at it.

I love me some Freddie goodness Mercury but I dont see how anybody with clean ears would choose his version over Jaggers. eek Freddie is lightyears vocally better than Jagger but Jaggers rugged, raspy voice adds something different to the track and shockingly Mercury's vocals dont really stand out that much in the demo.

Jagger version is better

I love this song. razz

Exactly. The FM version would have totally WALKED on the Mick version if done "properly". The stories I heard about the recording of it were that it was majorily rushed.

Love the track though, both versions.

The Freddy/Michael version, was a "run through", version. This would explain why, the quality was poor. Apparently, Freddie and MJ had a falling out and this along with other collaborations between the two,( "Must Be More To Life Than This" and the title track, "Victory") were deleted from the album. It was after that falling out that, Mick Jagger was brought in.

On Youtube, I always tend to play the Jagger version. I definitely prefer it.

Freddie has the better voice, I guess, but I'm not sure it shows on this track.

The production on the Jagger is better...

The song is too simplistic and repetitive; I got sick of it after only a few plays.

I agree.Freddie is a better vocalist but on that demo,he sounds like he's really holding back.Mick Jageer,on the other hand, really lets loose lol He sings the song aggressively and some of his vocal ad libs are hilarious (in a good way),lol.

I couldn't get through the Freddie version. It sounds like it was written by a twelve year old.

Yep. Same here. While I generally prefer Freddie, his version doesn't really do it for me, as I don't really recognize him all that much... especially when they are singing together.
