Its tough to say with those records, i think GET A GRIP suffers from too many ballads, not that they arent good songs for the most part, its too much in one shot and as the hits basically, and coming on the heels of heavier edgier and more raw sound of PUMP its a huge step backwards. I liked NINE LIVES a bit more because it was a bit more raw, and Just Push Play had moments that were amazing and also pretty terrible. Im liking MFAD its just too many tracks outside of that i could narrow it down to 9-10 tracks and its top of this list for me.

I truly DON'T get the "GaG has too many ballads thing", it has THREE ballads out of 15 songs...

Cryin' and Crazy are top-quality classics, and Amazing is nicely placed near the very end of the album (good lyrics as well)

NL has SEVEN ballads/slow numbers out of 15 (including the bonus Falling Off and IDWTMAT, which are, ironically, ballads/slow numbers)

JPS has SIX ballads/slow numbers out of 13...

MFAD has SIX ballads/slow numbers out of 15

shrug

mainly because they were all the singles, yes "livin on the edge" was a hit and first to come out, and then Eat the Rich followed but was only a Rock release, the ballads all came back to back to back as hits, so they were almost becoming a "Chicago" like 80's group. NOt that thats bad but i feel there was this "get a hit" and because of that run it bled into future records.

Cryin and Crazy are just too similar, the choruses are almost identical and there is no need for both of them on the album.

Add to that, GAG has way more filler than any other Aerosmith record. Shut Up And Dance, Flesh, Fever, Line Up, Gotta Love It - all filler tracks.

Oh, and Outta My Head is a great song!!!

ok, you name Gotta Love It (one of their best post-Pump songs) filler but Outta My Head (their worst ever) is a great song by your standards...whatever

look, I'm not mad or something, lol but I see that we are not going to agree at all here

let's say that both GaG and JPP have filler

peace lol

lol I'm gonna admit that GottaLoveIt is a bit long and repetitive, but I love the funk/rock approach and the somewhat eeire/spaced production

what puzzled me was your love for Outta My Head, gosh that songs stinks! lol what do you like about that song?

I dunno really. When I find heard it I too thought it was a stinker and it reminded me of Rudebox by Robbie Williams (which is not a good thing).

But it really grew on me. Granted, Tylers attempt at rapping is (as always) dreadful, but the chorus is great and the "Somewhere, somewhere underneath the rainbow / Somewhere, somewhere underneath the rainbow" chant is really epic and climatic! I also love how it seagues nicely into Drop Dead Gorgeous.

Give it another shot. At worst, it's a guilty pleasure.

nah I owned that album from 2001 to 2007 and I always skipped that song, that one and the title-track, Fly Away from Here and Luv Lies, lol

Well, I gave Gotta Love It a few more spins. My opinion remains, it is a pretty lacklustre affair - probably the worst song on Get A Grip.

I also listened to a few of the songs I slept on over the years and Fever and Flesh are both pretty decent, solid tracks. I still think Shut Up And Dance and Line Up are filler and that Nine Lives is a much better album.

at least tell me that you liked the intro lol

to me Flesh is the turd of the album, overlong and loud, almost rhythmless, boring rocker...
