Skream featuring Kelis - Copycat (a Rihanna/Lady Gaga diss?) I like it a lot.. she's singing that some girls "swaggerjacked" her style... unfortunately, Skream (the producer of the track) is talking all over the damn thing so you might get really annoyed at it...

Kelis always claims that Gaga and Rihanna stole her style and I kinda disagree although I understand her frustration.
Kelis was probably one of the first female artists of her generation to be out there with her look and music (but hers wasnt as contrived as Gaga/ Rihanna) and Kelis was unfornately overlooked but I highly doubt Rihanna and Gaga were heavily inspired by her specifically.

David Bowie AND Madonna would strongly disagree with Kelis.
That is all. | |

Although I like her music a lot, I don't see how she had much influence on other artists. She sure wasn't the first with everything she did. There is not one thing, not in fashion, not in music of which I can say that's typical Kelis.
But she's still great! | |

Didn't Kelis have a problem with pink copying her hair colour when they came out in 2000? I don't know the media loves to put female singers against each other though.
As much as I love Kelis I don't think these girls were inspired by her though or even Madonna.

These girls were inspired by $. They have no musical inspirations! "Keep in mind that I'm an artist...and I'm sensitive about my shit."--E. Badu

I dont really pay much attention to the fashion side of it, I'm far more interesented in the music. But yes, I'd say there's typical Kelis in music: her signature sound with the Neptunes on her first two albums, and some songs on the third album, are the best achievements of the best rnb producers of the 00's, made with perhaps the greatest rnb artist to emerge in the last decade (perhaps only paralleled by Beyoncé). Yes, I know both started in 1999, but anyway. That's my view. So, yes, there's a strong Kelis musical mark. One of the most underrated artists commercially. -Wtv u heard bout me is true,I change the rules n do what I wanna do.[Im n love w God,He's the only way - NOT!]We know we gotta die some day,so Im gon have fun evr MF night!Im gon 2 another life. How bout u?
