Edsel Records will reissue 2CD Deluxe Editions of both Fine Young Cannibals albums later this year, with a tentative release date scheduled for 29 October.

The band only ever released two studio albums and various compilations appeared in the decades that followed, including The Finest from 1996 which included a new recording, The Flame (released as a single). A 2CD version of this compilation included a bonus disc entitled The Rare and the Remixed which contained hard to find tracks such as the Cole Porter cover Love For Sale (from the Red Hot + Blue charity album) and yet more remixes.

Edsel are working with Steele and Cox on these reissues, so that bodes well. We can expect a large selection of remixes to be included in these 2CD sets along with a ‘mopping up’ exercise to ensure all other non-album studio recordings (such as The Flame) are included.

Dr Robert of ’80s pop favourites The Blow Monkeys, has revealed via twitter that the band’s first two albums – 1984′s Limping For A Generation and Animal Magic from 1986 – will be reissued by Cherry Red Records in November this year.

Both deluxe editions will include demos and unreleased tracks, and ‘the doctor’ himself revealed some titles of the unheard material, such as Soulboy in Slumber from the Limping For A Generation period, and Guess I Love Her Now from Animal Magic. Remixes and B-sides should help fill up what will almost certainly be 2CD releases.

any news on the Kool & The Gang remasters? Awhile back,Big Break Records revealed that four of their albums ('Ladies' Night','Celebration','Something Special' and 'As One') are being remastered and due sometime this year.

I've never heard it neither. Click on the link. The samples are there. I think it's one of her better 70's albums. The only thing that I'm weary of is the samples are obviously from a vinyl record. I have emailed the label asking will the pressed CD be from the original master tapes? Waiting for them to respond.

THE MONKEES Justus (180 Gram CLEAR Audiophile Vinyl/Limited Editon/Gatefold Cover)

In 1996, after a thirty year hiatus as a quartet, the original Monkees Davy Jones, Michael Nesmith, Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork went back to the studio and recorded what would ultimately be their final studio project, the Justus album. Noted for their return to the studio and touring around the legendary release, this final work also found The Monkees as the sole musicians, vocalists, writers and production team for all of the tracks assembled for the recording. The results truly showed one of the more organically produced albums ever from their superstar catalog of fine recordings.

Originally an idea spearheaded by Michael Nesmith, the Justus album was conceptual in nature almost mirroring the original idea behind their classic Headquarters album, which like Justus, showcased these four musical talents as a team and offered no single track to radio but instead a full musical album listening experience.

Opening up with a new take on Circle Sky, Michael Nesmith is on top of his game with this metal-like rocker originally from Head. Featuring a wall of loud guitars, retro lyrics and chorus, this classic track was performed at the reunion concerts around this album, and once again reemphasized the importance of the original quartet setting, making this a great intro track.

Davy Jones belts out one of his finest compositions with the uptempo groove of Oh, What A Night. The tune truly resonated with the fans back then and continues to be one of the more appreciated classics in his long list of time tested Monkees favorites.

Micky Dolenz and Davy Jones repeat the magic with their revisit of You And I from their Dolenz, Jones, Boyce & Hart era. Featuring a strong vocal performance by the duo and the stunning guitar work of both Monkees’ Peter Tork and Michael Nesmith, this track truly captures the innocence and the feel of their sixties sound, as it became a time tested track well into their final tour of 2011.

Much like their Instant Replay (Friday Music 113) album, Micky Dolenz contributes a good helping of original compositions to the Justus project. Either rockers like Dyin’ Of A BrokenHeart, the blues balladry of It’s My Life, or the Rolling Stones vibe of Regional Girl, the Justus album was a watershed for Dolenz’s writings and vocal prowess which truly makes this 1996 session a true winner.

Peter Tork was always one of the more intriguing writers and musicians of the band, and it is fitting that the more progressive sounds would derive from his pen with the classic I Believe You as well as his fine prog-rock track Run Away From Life featuring the powerful vocals of Davy Jones.

The late great Davy Jones gets the honor of closing out this wonderful album with his classic ballad It’s Not Too Late. With his stunning vocal and heartfelt lyrics , and the brilliant chorus from the his Monkees brethren, the song in itself is a fitting tribute to these four geniuses, as the legacy of this superstar band will forever stand the test of time.

Heart's Horizon was Al Jarreau's eleventh album in a much endured and highly successful discography for Warner Bros. As a superlative follow-up to his huge Moonlighting single and the L Is For Lover album (FRM 25477), Heart's Horizon continues the thematic approach of Al's take on universal love, which is clearly defined in the original twelve tracks that made up this project.

The legendary soul king Percy Sledge began his career singing in Alabama in the 1960s and soon got the attention of producers Marlin Greene and Quin Ivy who in turn brought this fine gentleman of song to Atlantic Records. The Blow Monkeys reissues are comprehensive with remixes and B-sides from all the various single formats of the era including seven-inch double-packs, ten-inch vinyl and twelve-inch records.

Dr Robert has supplied sleeve notes and the original band demos are said to sound superb, despite being sourced largely from cassette. All commercially issued tracks are remastered from the original master tapes, and the eagle-eyed among may notice the inclusion of the ten-inch remix of Digging Your Scene (originally entitled Digging Your Remix) which only received its CD debut last year on the excellent Phil Harding Club Mixes of the ’80s compilation.

These 2CD sets will be reissued in jewel cases by Cherry Red Records and Limping For A Generation will revert to the correct, original cover design.

Penney Ford? Now that's a rare one speaking of rare albums,I wish they would remaster the 1987 Madame X album (produced by Bernadette Cooper).That's such a cool,funky,edgy album...one of the greatest R&B albums of the late-80s,imo.I think I'll suggest it to BBR

Word !!!! I pull my cd copy out,every once in awhile. I got to get my "I'm Weak For You" fix lol !!!! I really thought they were gonna be the second coming of Parlet or Brides Of Funkenstein. They had the edge to bring it like that.

Does anyone know why they didn't take off? I thought they were going to be the next Vanity 6. But, the album pretty much went unnoticed. I don't believe they even bothered to release a second album. I love "Just That Type of Girl".

Queen will release a concert film Hungarian Rhapsody – Live In Budapest on 5 November.

Originally filmed in 1986 as part of the Magic Tour, Hungarian Rhapsody has been re-mastered in high definition and presented in 5.1 surround sound. There are a multitude of configurations, including standalone DVD and standalone Blu-ray, as well as a 2CD/DVD Deluxe Edition and a 2CD/Blu-ray Deluxe Edition.

A bonus feature on the DVD and Blu-ray is a new 25 minute documentary feature entitled A Magic Year. This follows Queen from just after their show–stealing performance at Live Aid on 13 July 1985, through the year leading up to the concert in Budapest. The documentary will use archive footage from rehearsals, interviews with the band in the studio and on the road during the Magic Tour, some of which has never been seen before.
