More than a decade after Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes died in a car crash in Honduras, the surviving members of TLC are planning a new album and a reunion tour in which Lopes could play a long-rumored starring role as a hologram.

"The hologram is something we talked about and thought about years ago. Obviously timing is everything, but we're definitely talking about it," Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas tells the U.K.'s Metro newspaper.

The idea to resurrect Lopes, who was 30 when she died, for stage shows was rumored last spring, after a hologram of Tupac Shakur wowed audiences at Coachella. But this is the first time the band members admit they are considering it.

"It will be hard on us, but I certainly think our fans would love to see it," says Thomas, 41. "I think we would probably pass out, and all of our fans would break down, but it's amazing how real the hologram looks. It's almost like you can touch the person."

As for the new album, Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins says it will be classic TLC, with some fine tuning. "We're going to still sound like TLC, evolving to whatever level we need to be at this time," she tells the BBC.

"We have to get into the studio and start feeling how we feel," adds Watkins, 42. "You have to find yourself first, and then you find the path, and then you have an album before you know it."

There is no time line yet for the new album or tour. Thomas and Watkins are also working on a TLC biopic for VH1.

I can see a new album, but I don't like the fact that they are going to try to use a hologram.

Besides, I can't see that being profitable to invest in that crazy amount of money to have her as a hologram.

I knew that,after the Tupac hologram performance,other artists would try to do the same thing

The thing about the hologram that kind of makes it stupid is that the living members of the bands have aged and the hologram hasn't. These things must be made by Industrial Light and Magic.

I would actually go though the hologram thing is too fake for me , I was a huge tlc fan as well and still play them often.

Terrible idea.

Sounds intersting. I'd probably check it out. To me its the same as watching a movie. On the other hand, the picture in the original post is pretty damn scary. Lets hope thats not the hologram.

you attribute a live concert to watching tv etc

The hologram costs a lot of money. In fact, I remember hearing that special effects company went bankrupt after the 2pac hologram.

Just get some music video footage of Left Eye and project it onto a screen for her raps.

nah not really. I just think that this particular experience, if done properly, could be interactive in a cool way between the live elements and the technology. Could be a nice bookend to their career if its done in a way that shows respect for Left Eye. They shared a sisterhood so hopefully that will be the case.

I used to be obsessed with them, I put out hint after hint about their concert in 2000 and my sister bought nosebleed tickets for Christmas and took me to see them. But now I probably wouldn't walk across the street for front-row seats. I'm mildly interested in the new album but doubt it could be one-tenth as addictive as Ooooooohhh, CSC, or Fanmail.

Absolutely terrible idea. It smacks of desperation.

I can see doing a duet like this, but an entire concert or tour - no way.

A better idea was the one they had of the late Natina Reed taking her place. But even then. I said

Leave well enough alone & release solo projects. I was a huge fan of them when Lefteye was alive. It is not the same without her Hologram or not. I won't be attending..

What's the protocol on these things?

Do you cheer for a hologram when it walks out onstage, or do you just zone out on it like the TV show that it is?
