Advices for recent really cool jazz releases please Hi y'all
So I guess there r a few jazz addicts around here. What's really fresh lately, whether talking regular jazz or more xperimental shit?
Just asking cuz I ain't a specialist in the genre and though I caught a few nice jazz records lately, I'm sure I missed a great deal of good shit
My faves from these last few years (some aren't "new" artists but I dug recent works of them, hence them being here): - Akiko Grace - Akira Sakata - Austin Peralta - Bill Laswell (did all kind of weird free-jazz collabs lately, including shit with John Zorn) - Food - Jeff Parker - John Scofield - Masabumi Kikuchi - Nils Peter Molvaer - Sayag Jazz Machine - The Cinematic Orchestra - The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble (and their impro variation The Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation) - The Thing
+ a few people like George Duke, Katie Melua and Donald Fagen who're somewhere between jazz and pop... That Chaka Khan/George Duke tour in 2009 was wow! So bad they didn't release anything from that collaboration
