The Jam-The Gift Super Deluxe box set

This "news" is over a month old but I just heard about it. Anyone planning on picking this up?

http://www.music-news.com...emID=57275

Three cd's and a dvd. The first cd is stuff that most every fan of The Jam already owns. The second disc is a collection of (mostly) previously unreleased demos and the third disc is a live concert. The dvd is what I am most interested in, hopefully there is some "new" stuff on there.

Honestly, the content looks a bit underwhelming but I love the Jam so I gotta get it. Kind of funny that Setting Sons hasn't received any kind of "deluxe" upgrade.

Shoot, between this the Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness reissue and the Parklive release from Blur my wallet is taking a beating and that isn't even factoring in Christmas presents. Unfortunately my friends and family may be neglected this year. lol

Yeah, thought that album would've been ahead of this one for the reissue treatment, that one will probably be next, Weller seems to be giving the deluxe treatment to all his albums one by one, Wild Wood's my favourite, some real gem outtakes on that one.

We're here, might as well get into it.

Paul Weller is not really on board with this box set. This was strictly a recod company move. He did an interview with NPR and basically said that while he still performs these songs live, he has no interest in re-releasing any of the material or re-forming the Jam. That being said, Im kinda interested in this.

This is what you want...This is what you get.

i knew he had no interest in reforming the jam or TSC but i didn't know this was done without his input. i have the jam and TSC box sets and the solo box set and they did a great job on them, also the dvds and other deluxe reissues

Kinda surprised to hear that he's not into the reissues. He played LA a couple weeks ago & did Carnation, 5 O Clock Hero and Running On The Spot. Seemed like the kind of thing you might do to "promote the new release" but whatever. He was really good.

He says he's not interested yet he's recorded a BBC Radio feature to tie in with the release.

Incidentally, Universal are releasing a limited edition vinyl only album (500 copies) of The Jam Copenhagen 1982. Its the "Spil-Op" show which is on the dvd of the deluxe edition. Certainly of interest to collectors.

Did anyone receive a copy of this yet? I had it pre-ordered through Amazon Canada but cancelled it when I noticed that in the UK it shipped two weeks earlier. I haven't received my copy from Amazon UK but it is on the way.
