To be honest, there are some artists I am surprised there aren't a lot of threads on, like Jessie J, Adele, Lupe Fiasco, Frank Oceanetc

shake NOOOOO!!! The last Jessie J thread I read (wow that was a mouthful lol ) was a bash session for her. I started one too and nobody had much nice stuff to say about my girl. I think her voice on her acoustic performances is actually very good but that's just my ears. Same for the last thread I read on Adele asking how many people still didn't own '21'. Not many positive responses there either despite her being an artist who actually doesn't rely on her image and being an attention whore to sell her music unlike so many who get a new thread daily. rolleyes

It's one thing to have a negative opinion about an artist but it's another thing to be a total hater and continue to bash that person everytime a thread on them is started. I get it; you don't like this person but why even continue to go into threads about a person you can't stand? That's like people who send hate mail to celebrities...why waste a stamp, time, and energy on someone you despise that much? Just say you don't like them and if someone asks you why then elaborate and keep it moving. If they want to have a debate about your explanation than have a respectful debate about it. I'm sorry but I love Katy Perry but I'd rather not see any threads on her because nobody here likes her....in fact most people here hate her guts from responses I've read on her threads. I can live without the Katy Perry hate sessions, so please no more Katy threads....Thanks in advance!!! smile

But thats thing.... WHY are people making threads on these artists and topics knowing people dont like them?

lol

Those people are not dumb, they know exactly what they are doing. I admit people dont have to go into every thread and criticize an artist they dont like but alot of people that start those threads instigate that mess.... neutral

I've often noticed that threads on unliked artists are usually started by posters who are either: 1) big fans of that artist and just want to share their fandom with others; 2) people who find a news story about the unloved artist and post the article with the good intentions of keeping everyone informed; and 3) shit starters aka trolls. I think most people just post these threads because they want to keep everyone informed....strictly good intentions. I believe it's a tie between the trolls and the fans for the next most reasons for these unpopular threads getting started.

I will jump into a thread of an artist that I don't care for because the poster puts up such an interesting title for the thread that it catches my attention; and, unfortunately, I have the curiosity of a 4 year old at times lol I read a good 60% of the stories on my Yahoo! homepage because the title and the little description pique my curiosity...than I read the article and wish I had shown more inner strength to defeat my idiotic curiosity sad It's one thing to read the thread; but it's another to actually post in it. I've read quite a few that I don't even feel the need to waste my time posting anything in. Inner strength powers activate! woot! lol

Why do people continue to start threads about Prince in the other section? Because from what I've seen, he constantly gets bashed and called all sorts of things. So the whole site should be shut down, and that will be eliminated.

When orgers stop acting like this site is a form of social media like Facebook or Twitter then they'll let go of attacking everything that annoys them about what's on the site. This site is an open forum and chances are something posted will either irritate or offend you from time to time. You can choose to avoid those things or continue to try and excise them by attacking them. The former will give you some semblance of peace. The latter will drive you insane and make you appear to be a troll or a flamer. Light humor on a thread you find useless is cool but waging an effort to convince others they shouldn't post or discuss things is futile.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

So its okay for people to make threads on things that has nothing to do with music

and

its okay for people to make alot of threads on artists that receive harsh criticism from most here due to lack of interest but its a problem if someone criticizes something?

So everyone should type unicorns and rainbows on every topic because every topic and artist is just so perfect that nothing negative cant be said about them?

Thats because there are alot of threads here made heavily on artists nobody likes! lol ... so naturally people are going to criticize, bash and so forth and that would make it appear people are complaining or venting like this is facebook... and YOUR RIGHT, from time to time there are going to be threads like that but you have to admit there have been ALOT of threads like this over the past few years now. Its not a rare occurence this is something that occurs almost daily now it was never like this to this great extent in the past.

If you've already stated your opinion on a thread about a particular artist what purpose does it serve to go on every thread created about the same artist to reiterate your opinion. That's when your opinion begins to feel like bashing because the fans of that artist have heard your opinion on a prior thread. I don't need to go into 15 Justin Beiber threads to tell his fans that I think he's lame. One is more than enough. I don't believe my opinion is going to change any fan of any artist into not liking them. If you feel there aren't enough threads about artists you feel we should be discussing then start some instead of focusing on the threads you find irritating and repetitive.

Also when some posts on a thread to tell me they don't have any interest in the topic/artist then I personally think they're full of crap. Who takes time out of their day to formulate opinions about things they have absolutely no interest in?

This relates to this music forum and its a productive thought out thread not some random thread made on a stupid picture or on a kids birthday razz

but with all that being said your probably right lol

I get the first portion of your post and agree with that but nobody seems to acknowledge the posters who make threads on artists that are not popular here and are just on gossip and sometimes they are not even fans of the artist.

I think it goes both ways.

I dont think all the owness should go on the people who have a issue with these redundant threads.

I think we all can work together to make the forum more enjoyable for everyone by being considerate of the overall atmosphere and the overall taste. If you know after 6 threads made in one month that nobody likes Chris Brown... WHY continue to make threads on him? Thats just common sense unless you want to just troll and be annoying and you love to see people bash CB.

I am not saying its right but people do instigate alot of the bashing sometimes.

I could see if these threads came up once every month lol .... but these threads are made like once every 5-7 days lol and they are talked about more than oldies and other artists and I do make threads of songs that I enjoy or I think others might find interesting but just because people voice their concern doesnt mean people dont participate

I know we have talked about this before but I really think this forum should be divided into 2 sections. That way people who just want to gossip or post pics can do that and people who just want to talk about music can do that. Everybody is happy biggrin lol

1

i don't think ... that the opinion of other posters ... should matter that much to me.

A group of people don't like an artist, and I do? Who cares? Maybe I'll find other people who like the artist. Maybe, even in the disagreement, (or "drama", although i wouldn't get that heavy) - i might learn something, or be asked to defend myself.

And then I'll have to defend myself. Which is invigorating.

2

Speaking generally, we should talk about Justin Beiber, because he is very important. I think by merits of selling x ammount of albums, he's has to be very important. Even if it's just for today. Why is this working? What is he selling? I want to know! (i have no idea, btw).

I like to hear people's take on him. I have a take on him, and i want to write it, to see if anyone else agrees.

And if someone wants to get mad about my take on Justin Beiber? Again, who cares?

3

Last, i don't think my personal taste in music should dictate forum policy, or how the whole things gets structured. And that goes for all of you.
