Do Erykah Badu and Sade have a shot at getting into the Rock and Roll hall of fame?

I hope so-they are such singular artists

If they ever get around to her, I say Sade will get nominated and maybe inducted after one or two tries. Erykah? Love her but I don't think so.

Y'all are cold. Erykah Badu is a stable album artist, amazing live performer, and still relatively young. Sounds like Sade if this question were being offered up in the early 90s. Both deserve recognition but idk if some dumbass museum in Ohio is really recognition. And wasn't Sade's latest album sort of crap? Is the R&R HOF for bands who used to be mega and now make crap albums? Maybe Badu doesn't belong there after all.

^ We meant the Hall, not anything personal. We all love Badu here. But be real, you think the committee will pick her? Think about it.

Who knows? The Hall has a lot of weird folks in its committee and then we have the 600-plus folks who are part of the voting every year, inductees and record executives. So it depends on how many votes are tallied by all the people that votes for the inductees. I don't know if Lauryn would be picked at all. It's strange.

I mean Sex Pistols went in with only one official album...or didn't go in since they said fuck u to the hall? lol

Sex Pistols were Virgin/Branson's ticket to the big time. (Sort of think both are overrated) I wasn't alive when they hit. Were they really that big?

I think Lauryn might get in. A very very small chance though. Her album was very influential though so who knows

Yeah that could get her in. I think Miseducation is part of the Hall of Fame list of influential albums by that list (NARM I think it was).

For a time yeah, in 1977. They were the UK answer to the Ramones in the U.S. though the Ramones had less commercial success anywhere when you compared them and the Pistols (who actually had a few top ten UK hits).

I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Erykah badu with all my heart. Great body of work, fantastic live performer and good singer.

BUT

I dont see the Hall inducting her because of the history of snubbing and overlooking over the years they have done. There are alot of iconic and influential bands that have yet to get in because of their foolishness and politics.

For crying out loud, they just recently inducted Donna Summer who has been snubbed multiple of times just because she recently passed.

I personally dont think the RRHF means anything because its just based on biased opinions and not on who really deserves it. To be honest, I think acts like her and Sade deserve to be in it as well as lauryn hill.

I have a better chance of dropping my crutches, and walking to the hall of fame than Eryka being inducted into it.

Ms. Badu is probably too niche for the RRHOF, even if most of the voting committee was familiar with her , they may end up passing on her. Sade has the status and creditability to earn a spot but I doubt she'll get in on her first try, she's qualified to be in by the way since her debut was in 84. If PE are going in on their first ballot, she deserves to go as well.

I feel like these two lines sum up my stance. If Erykah keeps steady putting out real, organic, beautiful albums, she increases her chances. Keep shooting pennies in that well until you get a wish.

I also feel like the HOF is kind of tributing an era in music history that has many nails in its casket. We can all see from the tax problems and addictions of our heroes that they are literally mythical. Two years ago Amy Winehouse would have been laughable as a possibility but I bet she will be one of the final inductees. Its all so fragmented.

Is Whitney Houston in this HOF? RIP but alot of her albums were kind of shit.

The whole concept is sort of laughable and the antithesis of rock & roll as anti establishment. More a mausoleum than anything. And I think one day Erykah Badu will be in said mausoleum, with her big ass headwrap and an incense stick as this generations Billie.

Erykah? Where did she come from? I love her, but it's not gonna happen anytime soon.

Sade...I don't know about her either.

ms badu and sade will never be considered for the rrhof. these type of consideration only go to white male/ female performers. these two artist do not have a big impact on white male demographics so therfore it will not happen.

No, I don't think either will get in and neither will Lauryn.

I like all these women, but I can't see it, especially Lauryn. Her career is gone!

Your first record has to be 25 years old to be eligable for the RockandRoll Hall of Fame. So Sade yes, Erykah no, because she hasnt been around long enough.

yes. the question will be when they will have legit shots.

We shouldn't discount them out of hand for their "niches" or limited body of work. Those could work in their favor.

When judged against numerous other acts that will be eligible, particularly in the R&B/Soul category, their work will likely be seen as more substantial than that of their peers.

Great artists with limited bodies of work appealing to smaller audiences have been inducted over the years; they've just had to let their legacies "get some age on them" before they are recognized.

Whether 10 years or 20, they will each be in the "If _____ got in, why not ______?" convo. And they might could get the call.

Erykah and Sade will be nominated and inducted long before acts like Deep Purple, KISS and Cheap Trick get in. They really should call it the MUSIC Hall Of Fame.

I think Lauryn has a pretty good chance of being nominated, Sade as well. I don't think Erykah would even be nominated (assuming the committee had even heard or know about her). Furthermore, would Erykah herself even care about it? I don't think she would.
