Esperanza Spalding anyone razz

She is a multi instrumentist, she writes all her music, experiments with alot of genres etc... I personally think her D are different in their styles.... but she probably is the most impressive since D Angelo in terms of being a musician and all around artist.

They are from totally different cloths though.

Thats why I said they have different styles, they are not the same... but I would choose her over Frank Ocean. To be frank, I think this whole comparing artists to past artists is getting really old and annoying. Why cant artists just be who they are? Why do they have to be the next.....

There's still an obsession with legends that someone's always trying to find someone who "fits that mold". The media feeds off of it.

Right. There's a big difference between "being influenced" and "emulating the influence." The media always has their jock on "the next this and that." The media's attraction to Frank's coming out party was based upon him sounding like a "21st century Stevie or Prince," which was atrocious because the dude's voice and style doesn't appeal to me.

Like I said I got caught up in the hype and all that bullshit... for like two days. lol But I see he couldn't stand on his own. I heard him do another song (one of Prince's) and my "stanning" dropped altogether. neutral

What was his tumbler rant about? eek

I think people are jumping to conclusions.. we dont know what he meant by that vague commet. He could be referring to anything. I think people are just blowing up anything he says for controversy

That's exactly why its attention seeking

He just wants people talking. It's exactly what he wants.

The whole 'gay' thing - which he only inferred coincedntly - was a publicity stunt aswell.

Did Frank Ocean QUIT The Music Industry?

Frank Ocean mysteriously posted a vague message leading some folks to believe he may be quitting music. Find out what he said inside and get the details on Sway's interview with President Obama about music and its impact on politics.

Frank Ocean posted a very vague message on his Tumblr saying,

This post has led some to believe he may be leaving music.....or seeking attention. Earlier, he said that quitting is the new black...so maybe he is following a trend.

It's likely just another rant (maybe someone upset him) as he has also posted about how much fun he is having recording in Hawaii this week.

Prince Sigh.....

So when Janet makes all those misleading tweets are those for publicity as well? neutral

"Saying Lets Do it"

is she trying to get publicity since she knows her fans want new material?

I am not defending Frank because he was overhyped/overrated when that album came out but that doesnt mean everything he says has a hidden agenda. I think people jump to conclusions sometimes. He was venting about something ( I dont know what the hell about) before he tweeted that.

What has Janet got to do with this?

a) Janet is a private person

b) Frank Ocean SPECIFICALLY mentioned quiting music in his tweets

c) Janet could be working on an album or choreography or building ideas as we speak; hence 'lets do this'.

Usually, when Janet says something, she means it.

Don't let them pls

Because I was showing you an example of an artist that makes misleading tweets... EVERYBODY does that doesnt necessarily mean its a hidden agenda ALL the time.

This discussion is not about whether Janet is private or not... I just brought up the fact that she at times makes misleading tweets that could be interpreted in many ways and are controversial within her fanbase as relation to her doing music again

You might want to go back and re read the tweets. Frank in no way referenced to what he was quitting specifically.

"quitting the music industry is the new black"

"if i didnt make music I would make cars"

My point by saying she was private was that she doesnt tweet for press. Whereas Ocean is creating a reputation for attention seeking - clearly. He's even alienating his own fans.

Heck! she hardly ever tweets.

Worst example ever.

Did you read what he posted 3 days before those posts? He tweeted about how he was enjoying recording in the Hawaii and working on music. Its absurd to automatically imply he was talking about music when he did not specify in that tweet. Those sentences were not in the same tweet when he said "Yes, I quit" because if it was the headliner would be "Frank Ocean quits the music industry" and it wouldnt be a controversial debate as to what he was referring to.

When ever Janet does tweet she often makes misleading tweets and it leaves her fans thinking she is either in the recording studio, working on some new choregraphy or some new work venture bored I did not say that to bash Janet because I know you go apeshit on ANY mention of Janet. I just strictly pointed her out as an example of how she makes misleading tweets and it doesnt matter if she does it little or alot, the fact is that SHE DOES IT, period. So its unfair for you to biasedly assume that he is talking about quitting the music industry when he did not write it out. neutral

But he was talking about it 3 days before, exactly!!!!

What does 1 + 1 equal?

And no, you are talking about your self and MJ.

Heck even your name is dedicated to him.

I don't know why you are now judging me, and look how you've derailed the conversation on to something completely different. It's like you can't bear MJ's name NOT being brought up. Like your over compensating because he is dead....

AHHH! I disgress....

You replied TO ME and I responded accordingly and I didnt bring up MJ. YOU JUST NOW DID biggrin Thanks for derailing the thread. nuts

You also went apeshit just because I used JANET as an example, I was not even bashing her I just wanted to show you a different perspective but since I am a MJ fan and you hate him so much, I committed the ultimate sin.

And you love reading what you want into things, Frank Ocean did not say what he was specifcally tweeting about and just because he made a few tweets about the music industry doesnt necessarily mean he was referring to that as far as what he was quitting..

"Yes, I Quit" is all he said so unless your God you can not magically make that into him quitting the music industry but hell thats my opinion to what you initially RESPONDED TO ME WITH.

Dont respond to me with bullshit and elementary crap. neutral You responded to me, I disagreed so I challenged it. Its ridiculous how you can not have a simple conversation without being insulting and immature.
