Well I never thought he was all of that yall was the one hyping his Orange Channel album up
on the Twitter rants: I dont know what to say about that

Damn y'all are going hard on this dude.

Time will tell if the investment in Channel Orange was worth it.
Right now it's a very divisive album and people either love or hate it.
But I do remember people not getting enough of that Outkast album. I don't really notice people even talking about that album anymore.
So time will tell.
My bet's on Frank.

I stopped believing in the hype after its release.

I mean he obviously is a talented songwriter but that Channel Orange album was really overhyped and didnt really live up to it and while he does convey emotion in his songs, I dont think his much of a performer. [Edited 10/27/12 19:17pm]

Frank's album is better because it's more creative. But I just prefer Miguel over him in general I love his album. Both albums are must buys imo.

And that talk-singing Frank does is why I can't stan for him He didn't work on his live performances either.
The Weeknd (he need to work on his live performances too), Miguel and Frank is my order of preference.

Someone needs to give The Weeknd some performance lessons so he don't appear like he's drunk and high on weed 100% of the time.

That's his image | |

I know but still... | |

I think ALL of yall hype Frank and that Miguel dude up a lil to much around here, yea I said it
There refreshing to listen to when they come on the radio rather than hearing the Bieber's, Rihanna's, Perry's etc ......but I wouldnt come out the pocket for it
In order for me to pay money for anything I have to REALLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY like it
So what if it might be better than Chris Brown?, it doesnt necessarily make it a Mozart masterpiece
I think since this era is so bad we kind of just settle for anything or maybe I am just hard to please

I see, got caught up in that hype dont let it fool ya
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I got caught in it too. I still dig Frank, he's not even close to being a new D'Angelo though.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
And I'm always talking about not buying hype.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
That was the press.
Minus the hyperbole they were trying to say that he was one of the more impressive R&b acts since, well, D'Angelo.
I don't know if he is but I have a hard time naming anyone else.

Esperanza Spalding anyone
She is a multi instrumentist, she writes all her music, experiments with alot of genres etc... I personally think her D are different in their styles.... but she probably is the most impressive since D Angelo in terms of being a musician and all around artist.

I dig Esperanza. | |

Not even I dont see why cant they just allow people to just come out with an album. It always has to be a catch attached to it.... it was ridiculous how they were comparing it to Brown Sugar.

Love her!
But she's jazz.
Don't get it twisted.

You think that's bad, the NYT writer quoted someone at the listening party declare, "This must've been what it felt like when "Purple Rain" first came out."
I'm sorry but I have to pull a KCOOL on this one!

There goes Two-Faced Timmy again, talkin' out of both sides of his neck.
You were stanning hard for Miss Frank, saying she was the new thing and that folks who didn't like her just didn't get it! You and smooth, both!
Well, la ti da, even if this is a publicity stunt, it's hilariously bad. She needs to get a therapist.
