I broke down and bought the boxed set of Columbia years. I am still listening to CD's for the first time.

We are lucky to enjoy their legacy while they are still making music.

nod Not only was the music created superior, but the words in their songs alone are inspiration for anyone who's down and out.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

'head to the sky' and shinning star' these songs so positive and uplifting for the spirit. i wish positive message music was still a part of today's music.

instead of,

yo body, yo shawty,

my eyes, my bling,

i rap, cain't sing,

my money, yo honey,

beez yo stupid,

(most)

pop rap's gibberish

wasted X foolish-ness.

blahblah

Their music is timeless. It's hard to top EWF from a total musical

perspective. That's why i answered EWF to the what music what you

want to listen to alone on a deserted island a few weeks ago.

Their side projects are great as well. Maurice White didn't throw no sloppy seconds to Deniece Williams, Emotions and Ramsey Lewis, he gave them ACE materials nod

Chil' you ain't never lied. nod

The is the group of my youth, saw these band when they were still doing the college gigs, through the different line ups, and around the World. My all time favorite band as well. Sly and the Family Stone would have been my first all time favorite, but "we" ( my siblings) parted company with those people. biggrin lol

That's cool. Is she a fan?

My uncle turned me on to EWF when they had Mighty Mighty out.

I believe i was in the 4th grade. A few years later when he came

home on break from the military he bought me the I Am album

with the poster. I don't think i have the poster with it anymore.

I saw E.W. & F in concert 7 months pregnant, she was already a fan. biggrin

Brett's a BiG fan. She's really into their early stuff, which kinda of surprises me. Her favortie album is, "Open Your Eyes".

My favorite band also.....

I would be curious about everyone elses opinion, but I think what speaks volumes about the music and production that Maurice and team created together is that IMO, I have not heard one remake of their music that was better than the original....

They were never overtly political, but more life-affirming, inspirational and down-right happy music you would be hard-pressed to find in similar abundance with almost any other artist.

And, to Maurice's credit, most of their legacy music has truly withstood the test of time.....Production is not dated.....The layers of percussion, strings, voices, instruments on Fantasy, as just one example of music at its best speaks volumes of the attention to detail and the precision that Maurice kept in the music of EWF.
