Got to Meet the Brand New Heavies (warning, shameless photowhoring ahead) The BNH have been on my top 5 favorite bands/artists since they came out. Somehow over the years I've managed to be out of town or unable to attend their shows so last night was a...dream come true. On top of that, I sent some art prints with one of their crew and got invited to chill a bit backstage after the show.
OK, here comes the shameless photowhoring...
With Simon . We had a funny/interesting chat about Prince when I mentioned being a purple fan and what an amazing collaboration it would be if P and BNH worked together. I was excited to see when we came backstage that he already had my print put away in his bag. [img:$uid]http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i9/jgascot/BNH5.jpg[/img:$uid]
N'Dea, so tiny and softspoken off stage. One of the best voices out there to this day IMO. [img:$uid]http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i9/jgascot/BNH2.jpg[/img:$uid]
Jan :swoon: [img:$uid]http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i9/jgascot/BNH3.jpg[/img:$uid]
Dapper Mr. Andrew was a trip! [img:$uid]http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i9/jgascot/BNH1.jpg[/img:$uid]
Can't wait for their new album to come out! Share some of your favorite BNH songs, albums...

You one lucky dude. I'm jealous. The Heavies and N Dea work together like hand in glove. Not to take anything from them when they are apart but they are fucking awesome together. I haven't listened to their music in awhile but i think it's time to pull out the Get Used To It and Brother Sister cd's. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

This is my favorite from the Nicole Russo album: You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Nicole's voice is hot! The group definitely produced some fierce tracks with her.

In another thread, it was posted that they're supposed to release 2 albums, one with N'Dea and another Heavy Rhyme one. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. Got to admit that I don't know who the hell Brand New Heavies are...but you look really cute. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Aw, I'm envious! I glad that they were open and friendly to you. And I'm glad N'dea is back with the band. When I was an 11 I looked up to her SO much. She was a major role model during my teenage years. Looks like you've enjoyed yourself enough for all of us. Thank You San Alejo for getting rid of my enemies. :-0
Thank You SO much Saint Expedite for your help Thank You Virgin de Guadalupe for helping my friend Thank You Saint Anthony for returning my wallet to me untouched

You might have heard N'dea. She sings the hook on Young MC's Bust A Move and also Jesse Jaymes' Shake It (Like A White Girl). You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

YESSS! He wrote 12" on my gal-friend's cd. I've not just thought that musically these dudes were so so cool but also crushed on Jan and Simon. since day 1.
It wasn't til the next day when I looked at my pic with Simon and I thought, Oh my damn, no I didn't lean into him for the pic.
At one point Naughty Simon jumped up on the chair the trumpet player was sitting in backstage and fake-face f*kd him. He's definitely the wild one in that band.
I actually said "Why can't that be me??" outloud.

I love them but I've never known how to pronounce N'Dea's name...is it India??
N'Dea sings backup on Vogue.
