He is better than most of these clowns out here today. In his era....he was a decent rapper. He was no rakim, qtip, phife, or LL cool J.

Yeah there is/was a lot of the same people doing the same thing. A lot of early hip hop was fun.

Yeah. That's why I don't get the arguments that Will was "different". In the era he emerged from he was far from it. Heavy D was another of the "fun rappers" that was doing it before he did it (though Will and Heavy both came out around '86, it was Heavy that was more popular).

nod

Heavy was a person that came to mind when I read your respond to me. Heavy still gets love and Will gets dissed. I don't understand it.

It's backlash. At his best Will could tell a story and was mildly funny. I liked a few of his songs like Brand New Funk and.....umm...... yeah. lol Once he became a full-time actor he started taking himself too seriously I think-- his tone changed and he became irrelevant as a rapper.

Yeah he was only a decent rapper for about seven years. After he became Hollywood, like I said, just another actor who thinks he's a rapper (or still a rapper).

His hit song "Parents just don't understand" is what started & was based on his mega successful series "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" so his story telling caught Quincy Jones attention & he demanded a tv series for him from NBC.It may have been the fastest casting in tv history. Will also was the first rapper to win a Grammy along with his still close friend Dj Jazzy Jeff...We all know what happen next. He became the "King of Hollywood & just hosted a benefit dinner for Michelle Obama & has a very successful wife with his talented kids....

Live Performance: Will Smith Rocks The Mic At Gabrielle Union’s 40th Birthday Party! [Video]

Posted on October 29th, 2012

It’s been a LONG time since we’ve seen this!

Will Smith Performs “Summertime” And “The Fresh Prince Theme Song” At Gabrielle Union’s 40th Birthday

Saturday night, DWade’s boo-thang Gabrielle Union turned the big 4-0. To celebrate, she threw a huge party in Miami that brought out her A-List homies, including “The Fresh Prince” Will Smith. Big Willie From Philly didn’t buy Gabby a present, but he did give her a gift, a rare performance of his old school hit “Summertime” as well as a brief rendition of the theme song that he made famous in the early 90′s.

Will still has it!!!!!!!
