It's funny, when I first heard the tunes, I thought of Todd Rundgren. Then a few years later, Todd Rundgren and Daryl Hall teamed up to do a cover of the New Radical's "Someday We'll Know"......

It does sound like something Runt would've done.

Its an amazing album. No filler ALL KILLER.
I remember back in the day I picked it up just cause I loved the Courtney Love line and was totally shocked bout how well the rest of the album was. [Edited 12/13/12 12:29pm] The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

That section caught me offguard when I first heard it...I was like,

I always liked the lyrics in this song but hated the vocals

I remember this. This song, along with Bittersweet Symphony, Baby One More Time and I Want it That Way IS the 90s.
what happened to them? "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

I loved it when Marilyn Manson was like he'd choke the shit out of him. Then the singer of the song said "no we didn't mean it like that, we dig Marilyn and Courtney..."

...
I heard that Manson also said he wasn't mad at him for the 'Kick your ass' part, he just didn't like being compared to Courtney Love,
Funnier still, New Radicals lead singer songwriter Gregg Alexander later ended up working with Hanson, and his drummer ended up playing with Beck....

According to Wikipedia, the lead singer, Gregg Alexander also wrote "The Game of Love" by Santana, a very catchy pop hit, he's obviously quite a songwriting talent... We're here, might as well get into it.

This song, particually the vocals, use to remind me of a more poppy U2. Infact, at the time, i thought it was them LOL.
Anyway it's a song that got overplayed at the time and is cheesy but fun. [Edited 12/13/12 18:16pm]

Funny that you mention that - at the time, Edge said that this was one tune was jealous of...

Really LOL. I seem to remember U2 had a big hit around that time with the very poppy "The sweetest thing" and both that song and "You get what you give" sound like they were cut from the same cloth to me LOL. Both cute pop songs (even if the U2 one was an old 80's song rejigged), and both upbeat to boot.

Yeah, definitely. That's one of my go-to jams when I'm feeling good enough to blow out my ears.

I actually heard this on the radio when my alarm clock went off. I had totally forgotten about this song. "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

Loved it from the first time I heard it and I've kept it in rotation ever since "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Gregg Alexander is an interesting guy. He made one album - an album I consider one of the best ever - and then decided he'd rather be a producer than a recording artist, so he quit.
LazyCrockett is right, that album was no filler, all killer.
I've got to find that Rundgren/Hall cover of "Someday We'll Know"!

I second that. The only song on the whole album that isn't a standout for me is the title track.

I have never heard the album, but by god that was probably the most overplayed song of the 90s One of those ones you like at first, then it's repeated so much that the opening bars just immediately hurt your head. Wonderwall by Oasis is another in the same mould “If I can shoot rabbits/then I can shoot fascists”

Eh, this song could never be overplayed to me. The opening bars get me excited each and every time. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis
