You think Outkast will ever be considered legends? And do you think they have a shot at the RnR hall of fame? "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

Just asking. You never know on the org "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

They have classic albums, two of them are prominent on their own and they along with the Geto Boys, DJ Screw, Three 6 Mafia and UGK helped to bring Southern rap to the mainstream. Definitely legends already.

What have they done to become legends?
They are a great hip hop group but I think calling them legends is a bit of an exaggeration.
People here on the org use legend to loosely.
There was a recent thread made on your Top 10 favorite artists and some of the artists on my list I dont even consider to be legends.

Hey just giving my 2cents
Is it possible they could be legends? Could be possible, they have a strong catalogue (which most of their generation dont have) but is to soon to call them legends now...
Yes.
They havent even influenced or impacted another era or generation to even say they have had a profound impact on the industry... well thats at least one of the things I think of when I hear legend.

Just messin' with you [no harm intended]. Though I do agree that "legend" is thrown around a lot. Outkast, on the other hand, are definitely legends without question. They are easily one of the most consistent groups of all time in any genre. They have pushes the boundaries of hip hop further than [mostly] any other artist. So yes, they are legends & I believe they will be in the RnR Hall Of Fame. الحيوان النادلة ((((|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|)))) ...AND THAT'S THE WAY THE "TITTY" MILKS IT!

As far as who WILL EVER be considered legends: I feel many people will be surprised by some of today's "artists" that will be considered "legends" 25 to 50 years from now.
I love OutKast; think they are outstanding, and have most of their recordings. Though while I would not quite consider them legends YET (...in the way I consider Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Elvis Presley, or The Beatles legends), I certainly feel that they will eventually achieve that type of legendary status by those who will remember them in the future (while acknowledging that some feel they are already). Just as I'm sure they'll eventually be inducted into the Hall of Fame as well.

Twenty plus years together as friends and eighteen as a duo has given them a great presence in the business, they are indeed a force. Just like De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest bought an alternate yet important style into the rap game, they bought a different sound that impacted the status of hip hop that earlier southern group didn't. They need to get back together and prove one more time how strong they are and then they will have LEGEND status. Jeux Sans Frontiers

Absolutely. Stankonia even managed a respectable place in Rolling Stones top 500 albums.

Most definitely. They already are. They have one of the greatest runs in hip-hop history and evolved the game. Check me out and add me on:

yeah, lol
from wiki "A legend (Latin, legenda, "things to be read") is a narrative of human actions that are perceived both by teller and listeners to take place within human history and to possess certain qualities that give the tale verisimilitude. Legend, for its active and passive participants includes no happenings that are outside the realm of "possibility", defined by a highly flexible set of parameters, which may include miracles that are perceived as actually having happened, within the specific tradition of indoctrination where the legend arises, and within which it may be transformed over time, in order to keep it fresh and vital, and realistic. A majority of legends operate within the realm of uncertainty, never being entirely believed by the participants, but also never being resolutely doubted."
so I stick to my guns: Robert J. is a legend, damn there IS a legend about HIM

Already are as far as I'm concerned. I'd like to see more from them(together) though. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

These orgers said Beastie Boys was a comedy act. Their first album was packed with irony, but that was only Licensed To Ill.
You'd be hard pressed to get any orger to admit hip hop has legends outside of the 1970s pioneers.

I dont think anybody denied that they are great and could be consider that in the future but its kinda absurd to insist they are when they havent influenced/impacted a generation. That is what demonstrates "legendary status" It is not completely just material alone.
There are hip hop acts that are not from the 70s that are considered legends.. acts like NWA, Rakim, 2pac, J Dilla etc but you can clearly hear and see their impact and influence in todays market. While I adore Outkast I think it is to early to insist their legends being their still kinda apart of this generation themselves. Nobody is dissing them or saying their undeserving but just looking at it in the overall scheme of the industry currently.

I love them, but when I think of the word and status of "Legend", I just feel like even though they have accomplished a lot the past 20 years (damn already?) and they definitely stand out but as far as calling them legends...I don't know. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

They are probably the most respected Hip Hop act outside of Hip Hop. They won album of the year in 2004. Their albums get the highest rankings on those Rolling Stones poles. They've influenced not only backpackers, but trap and gangsta rappers. Not many can do that. They been in the game basically 20 years and have been respected from day 1. PRINCE: Always and Forever
