R. Kelly's Marvin Gaye sound on "Chocolate Factory"

I hate to say it but R Kelly's album is actually hott as hell! nod
& he has this song on there called "You Knocked Me Out" that falls NOWHERE NEAR SHORT of Marvin Gaye's sound i.e. "Rocking After Midnight".

Im not too crazy about it...I think it's the least best song on the album..."Step In The Name of Love", "Ignition remix", "Forever", "Dream Girl", "You Knock Me Out", "SITNOL remix", "Showdown" and "Whose That?" are the best songs on the album.
& yes, Chickengrease, it's true: I cant stand R Kelly & I grabbed his album by mistake while buying 50 Cent. wink

The title track is a great beginning IMO, nice groove. Like you rightfully point out the Marvin Gaye influence is the largest over the album's course, although I hear a lot of Prince in "Imagine That".

The Loveland bootleg has a great Stevie Wonder-like song called "Some Things Never Change".

Mr7

I got 'Chocolate Factory' yesterday and it is a great album.

No corny, gospel, MOR anthems, just straight soul jams.

'Step in the name of love' is the stand-out track for me, but they are all good.

Most of the terrible, infantile lyrics are gone as well.

The album is very focused. Easily his best I would say.

You make good points, it's definitely battling his self titled album from 95 for the top spot IMO. The "Loveland" bootleg in itself is up there too...

I'm a big fan of the "R" album from '98 myself- but I truly think he has topped himself in a big way with "Chocolate Factory/Loveland". The slow jams here are just unstoppable.

Step in the Name of Love, Forever, and Dream Girl would make excellent singles.

Who's supporting the man? I'm just listening to the music. Does this mean people shouldn't listen to any music that comes from someone who lives their lives differently than ourselves? Almost everyone in the music business is pretty corrupt.

As much as people are going on & ON about this album, I REALLY hope it's better (on the whole) than that Ignition remix I heard today - that wasn't impressive... neutral
