Lady Gaga Considering Two Volumes of New Album, "ARTPOP"

October 31, 2012

Link

Lady Gaga's new album ARTPOP is due out early next year, but it looks like fans may get more than they expected from the star: she's considering releasing not one but two volumes.

In a chat with fans on her social networking website LittleMonsters.com, Gaga wrote, "The album is not one kind of music and I think I'm going to release 2 volumes ARTPOP Volume 1 [and] ARTPOP Volume 2. Would put [out] second volume maybe like 6 months after first?"

Explaining the need for two versions, Gaga continued, "Sort of thinking that VOL1 should have all the commercial songs and then save the experimental material. But to be honest, even the experimental stuff is catchy. It's just a bit more modern and you never know if radio is ready."

She used the words "hardcore glam" to describe some of the album's sound, and added that ARTPOP is "nothing like Born This Way but it will feel like a piece the way [that album] did."

In addition, Gaga says she's written two dance songs that were inspired by the fact that her concert was banned in Indonesia earlier this year. "They're more metaphorical, conceptual, about bringing people together," she explained.

Finally, Gaga revealed that the new song she performed in concert several months ago, "Princess Die," didn't make the album, but added that she's written "another version of Princess Die that is uptempo, totally different song, that might." When asked why the first version didn't make the cut, Gaga said simply that it "isn't as good as all the other songs I wrote."

Cool i'm excited for this! I like the idea of a commercial album and then an experiemental one. Is this sort of like her version David Bowie's Low? I'm currently listening to that album. cool

hmmm

Will this be the first time there was a volume 1 & 2 of an album released on the same day since Guns N Roses did Use Your Illusion 1 & 2?

In fact this sounds a lot like the process for UYI as one has the more rock songs with some experimental, and the other is experimental, ballads & orchestral.

This maybe interesting!, might have to check it out.

But more power to her. I think she's a great artist.

I love this idea. I'm sure not every song will be great but I like to see artists be ambitious and I am sure that this will be a beautiful mess.

She mentioned that the second volume might be released about six months after the first.

Bruce Springsteen released Human Touch and Lucky Town on the same day in 1992 after Use Your Illusions 1 and 2. They weren't necessarily vol. 1 and vol. 2 but it is basically the same thing.

At least it seems like they're taking their time with this one. I could do without the hype but I guess that's just par for the course these days.

Born This Way I felt came out way too early after the last two and its reception I feel mirrors that.

I think she should release them on the same day cool idk could shake the industry up doing that since it hasn't been done since Illusion or Bruce!

I almost forget about Human Touch & Lucky Town.. cause there the 2 Bruce albums i RARELY listen to lol

I love the name, I hope the music is good. I was jamming to Bad Romance last night and wondering when she'll put out new music

All good wishes to her but...

I thought Born This Way had about 4 or 5 songs that could have been left off, leaving a shorter but much stronger record.

I have to imagine this will be the same.

Gotta say i have had more time to ''digest'' GaGa now that she is not as overplayed & she has been in the spotlight less & less.

I think she is talented, and i do like some of her songs, but some are just meh... in fact Born This Way had some good songs but a lot i didn't care for.

I think she has it in her to make a great album, she loves heavy metal so i would love to see some more rock tracks from her, hell i love you and i!

I can't bash her, cause i really do think she can make a great album, and this might be it.

Me too. Obviously she is a "pop" artist but I would love to hear her do some songs with an actual band (drums/guitar/bass).

Though I'm sure plenty of overweight, depressed indie-rock fans that think they are geniuses will.

Sweat was crunk and Suit was more smooth, but they were both commercial. I remember both videos being high on TRL at the time.

I'm hoping she expands her sonic palette on Artpop. I can't be the only person growing tired of RedOne's production gimmicks.

I remember that song, it was HUGE when it came out.

But seemed like such a forced collab

Soooo, I haven't owned a TV for a while, and for a minute I was trying to figure out what drug TRL is... duh

Anyhow, I also hope she includes more stuff with a band on this one -- her demo of Fever is still one of my favorites by her. I've always thought her version deserved to be released, especially after hearing what Adam Lambert did with it. shake
