A couple of my favorites (impossible to say "the best"). All of these solos (even though they are of varying levels of skill) are like mini-compositions. Songs within songs.

Jimi Hendrix--The Wind Cries Mary

George Harrison--Something

Larry Carlton--Kid Charlemagne

There's about ten million videos like this one. I might make my own some day (probably not as well as this girl, though)!

Good one on "Fishnet". Jellybean often overshadowed and overlooked by Jesse Johnson. Glad someone else notices him LOL. If you havn't already, credits don't state, but Iam sure Jellybean is on Patti Labelle's "Just the facts". It sure sounds like his squeely guitar LOL...

Check around 1:50 mark. Rememeber its a Jam/Lewis track aswell so...

Havn't checked out that Chuckii track in a while. Must hear it again....

man i've been wonderin if that Fishnet solo was 'sposed 2 be a duel between JB and Jimmy Jam like it soundz or was it an overdub? it was alwayz crazy 2 me how JB's playin the exact same thing Jimmy is 'cause Jimmy is hard muthafucka 2 mimic just right...trust me i've tried lol oh yeah i also loved what JB did on Alexander O'neal's Criticize 2...

As much as I like abit of smooth Jazz, people like her remind me of why some critics hate Toto LOL. It sounds great but seems to be lacking any soul and is too slick for its own good. Plus performance wise, it looks like she is doing chores instead of playing a fantastic solo. Now I love Toto, Lukather and the guys, and they never did smooth jazz (though Jeff Porcaro is anything but flashy) but I get the criticism a band of session musicians like Toto got in their day....

...I don't actually agree with that level of criticism of Toto got though, but people like her on the youtube video are a better example of passionless "slick but no kick" playing I have encountered locally before. Super technical, but clinical as hell.

So, you reckon it's Jellybean on Patti's "Just the facts"? Much better solo personally than "fishnet". Real cheestastic stuff!
