I love all the layering background vocals and his lead, it's in my top 5 thriller tracks

Underrated!

This was, and is, music to my ears. This one still has that Off The Wall sound that I love. Off The Wall was my fave from MJ.

Ive been listening to that all week exactly Michael was so funky and soulful on that

Rod Temperton's keyboard arrangements on this track is too much as is the drumming in the beginning and the overall song... classic. Would've been an R&B classic if he released it but I understood the game plan.

it may have not been released, but I heard it remixed on the radio on a friday night 9 years ago I freaked out!

Yea

But I still think it would have been successful on R&B charts but while it was never released as a single it is still considered a classic.

Thank you for making this thread! I LOVE this song! Its such a shame its so underrated, its such a brilliant track--a real classic! This is one of my top 2 favorite songs from Thriller. I agree with what everyone has said about this track. Its the kind of song that makes you feel good while listening to it A timeless gem!

7 of the songs where singles, The Lady In My Life has been sampled & performed.. but Baby Be Mine is the underrated track on thriller me think's.

Btw i was just reading that the Girl Is Mine video helped promote racially equality? & making it more accetable.

I know Thriller was big & all... but i don't think it made rcial equality more accetable

I could see someone arguing the Thriller album/era as a whole help to make racial equality more acceptable because it broke alot of racial barriers and appealed to alot of people but the Girl Is Mine music video standing alone as a song.... thats an exaggeration not to mention the song was not promoted with a music video for that claim to even be made

Michael is my baby but I agree ...... they probably said that it promoted interracial love because Mcartney is caucasian... generic reason but thats the reason because there is nothing in the lyrics that implies interracial love.

Wikipedia's weird like that. Whoever wrote it got an award for it or something since "Thriller" is a "featured article" on the site.

I wouldn't be surprised if "Baby Be Mine" had been intended to be released as one of the first singles but Michael probably thought against it because it would've been too soon after "Rock With You" be it the song had the same writer (Rod Temperton) and the same backing team with the same drummer (Ndugu Chancler).

ebony and ivory for obvious reasons was known to be about racial equality, I have never heard that about girl is mine

I dont remember there ever being a video for The Girl Is Mine
