Although her American Idol gig continues to grab headlines, Mariah Carey is actively back in the studio working on her next album. She reunited with The-Dream this week, sharing a photo with her Lambs on Twitter.

“Living The-American-Dream pon de studio,” tweeted Mimi, rocking a pair of hot pink leggings and a black tank top as The-Dream hid his face behind a fan of money.

The two previously worked together on her 2009 album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel including the singles “Obsessed” and “H.A.T.E.U.”

The-Dream is now Executive Vice President of A&R at Mariah’s label, Def Jam Records.

Mariah seems to be recruiting plenty of big names for her next project. The pop diva was in the lab with R. Kelly during her trip to Chicago last month and enlisted Rick Ross and Meek Mill for her single “Triumphant (Get ‘Em).”

“Triumphant (Get ‘Em)" sucked and barely registered on the charts. Her last outing, Memoirs... is a hodgepodge of fluff and overproduced, flat uptempo numbers.

I'm constantly losing faith in her ability to deliver quality material.

i so feel u on that but its not just mariah its like all music is failing now i listened 2 brandy cd yesterday and like u said it seemed so flat and in need of something. i dont know if its im getting older and this new generation of producing just does nothing for me

Mariah is talented & can sing no one has ever denied that

But girl tries hard to stay current & will go after any new rapper or trend that will keep her on the top 40. And she doesn't need to do that...

In fact i think we can blame Mariah for every singer having to have a rap guest track

I like Mariah's old jams.. but she need's to get ready for her thanksgiving feast & sit down

Mariahs 90s material is very good but she seems to just be chasing to stay current lately. Its really tarnishing her credibility and legacy, she really needs to stop. I dont think she is a icon but once upon a time she use to be a credible artist. She is following into the trap Janet did.

I like The-Dream's old music but he's kind of dated now imo. I didn't like the work he did with Mariah except for touch my body.

I want to see pictures of she and Walter in the studio. She's got to give me some shimmer of hope that there are going to be a few songs for grown-ups on the upcoming album. I am in DIRE need of some new QUALITY material from Mimi. The Dream, Rick Ross and Meek Hills ain't gonna be able to offer her quality. Just wish she'd stop trying to keep up with trends and just SANG DAMMIT!!!!!

Mariah has been putting a million guest rappers on her CDs since '97. I've come to expect this from Mariah.

She does what the hell she pleases and clearly doesn't care. She left her "real music" fans a lonnnng time ago.

(I know how much you guys like the term "real music" so I threw it in there for ya )

I agree..... I just dont understand how artists try imply they make authentic music or on a high status when they stoop to make mediocre songs for radio hits

Yep and artists who have made mediocre music for their entire careers

They need to just put it out and let the music speak for itself. They always try to martket with a gimmick "real music" just to get people to buy it. None of them care about the music industry because if they did they would make quality music.

Why would she want to do another album with The-Dream considering the general reaction to the last one?

I ended up really liking Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel, but even I was hoping for more of a change since she left such a gap between albums.
