UPDATE on 2013 R&R Hall of Fame: Rush, Deep Purple, Public Enemy nominated!

Well it's about that time again to see what the Rock Hall committee has cooked up for this year's nominees for the 2013 show.

Results of the nominations have been delayed but rumors are the 10-15 nominees will finally be revealed Tuesday at the latest (don't quote me though, things have been real quiet).

And the questions linger:

Will the late great Donna Summer finally get her just desserts?

Will CHIC finally get in after eight (I think?) tries and no cigars?

Will Rush and KISS finally be nominated so the bitching can stop ONCE and FOR ALL?

When is Little Steven leaving the committee? I blame him for some of the ridiculous inductions.

Will more "backing groups" like the original Wailers (Bob Marley) be inducted?

Will HEART get a second chance to perform "Barracuda" to Jann Wenner in case they're nominated and inducted? razz

All that and more from the "What the Fuck Is Going On Cleveland?" biggrin

----

UPDATE

These are your fifteen nominees for induction to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame:

  • Rush
  • Deep Purple
  • Public Enemy
  • N.W.A.
  • Heart
  • Joan Jett and the Blackhearts
  • Donna Summer
  • Kraftwerk
  • Randy Newman
  • Chic
  • Procol Harum
  • The Meters
  • Albert King
  • Paul Butterfield and the Blues Band
  • The Marvelettes

I'm speechless at this list.

I don't get it-why would KISS be nominated? That's like Poison being nominated.

Rush is by far the biggest injustice of them all. I hope they finally get in.

Otherwise i'm cheering for The Cure and Donna Summer.

I'm still disturbed about Mary Wells and the Marvelettes - the remaining hold-outs from the Motown era - not inducted as of now... Rush could be nominated, I wouldn't be surprised.

Actualy, is Motown as a whole inducted? Motown might be the only record label that is in the dictionary.

Not to sound like a hater, but I completely agree with this about Kiss. They don't deserve to be in the RRHOF.

My fingers are crossed this year for Rush & Chaka.

In a just and honest world, no they wouldn't. But that's only because it's supposed to be the ROCK AND ROLL Hall of Fame. However, the Hall threw away the ROCK AND ROLL part almost from the get-go.

I wish they'd change the name to Music Hall of Fame or something like that.

I've often wondered if an act like, say, The Impressions, ever thinks "Hey, this is a nice honor but we aren't a rock and roll act"?

Uh... the Supremes got inducted in 1988. Diana as a solo artist probably won't get inducted though. Donna maybe. Whitney, don't know. Janet, don't know either.

Sadly I dont think Diana will be inducted either because she didnt have an impact like she did with the supremes. I really hope Donna gets inducted, she deserves it because together with Giorgio Morodor they inspired a whole new genre. As much as I love Janets music I dont think she'll be inducted any time soon- many still view her as MJs little sister or a heavy Prince inspired sound. Whitney - I cant say - vocally out of this world -creativly - not so much but then again who knows.

Does anyone know if Patti Smith is inducted?

You know besides Detroit Rock City and Beth I couldn't name you another KISS song that I've ever heard. So part of me doesn't get the hype bout them. confused
