Would you call Mos Def one of the greatest rappers ever?

If so, why and if not, why not?

Oh yes! imo for sure cool

Not only does he have great flow... but his rhymes & lyrics are pure poetry.

Seriously, this guy can write his ass off! and also most don't know... but Bob Dylan has worked with Mos before.

besides the fact he is one of the greatest writers in hip-hop he has respect from all the big hip-hop heads and even Dylan cool

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

Can't say that I know enough of his music to judge, but he's definitely a good actor. nod

If I were extending the list to 15 or 20, maybe.

He's one of my 5 favorite MCs of the last 20 years.

When he's "on," no one in his generation is better.

But his studio output has been uneven.

I've seen him live alone and with Talib Kweli as Blackstar and he's pretty much the only rap act I'd buy a ticket to see in concert.

No.

He's one of the more daring emcees, but greatest? No.

Daring because he will sing, scat and is actually interested

in incorporating various musical genres on his albums as

opposed to strict use of "beats."

I'll give him the "innovative" nod as well. He's a better

writer than Talib Kweli, imo.
