Technically not a great singer, but she has a great (if as mentioned limited) voice. Sorta like Diana Ross, who also often sounds the same on most of her songs, but her voice is identifiable aswell.

Big fan of her later AOR stuff. Can't stand "Gypsies tramps and theives" LOL. "I got you babe" is a lovely song though

I'm the exact opposite. I can't stand I Got You Babe, the songs a classic, but I hate it so much! Gypsies, Tramps And Thieves (the album) is one of my favorites by Cher, and I'm more a fan of her late 80's to early 2000's stuff.

Never heard the album "Gypsies...", so I can't comment. Of her trilogy of AOR albums, I favour the last one, "Love hurts" the most, but all have their filler.

Gotta love "dead ringer for love" aswell. She sounds great on it as is a match for Meat Loaf.

The albums I'd suggest are Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves and Cher (1987).

I already own her 1987 album LOL. I just dont think I would dig her 70's stuff, but I might give them a try one day.

Her 1987 is great but sort of fizzles out in the second half. Love the campy "perfection" though. Sounds like some other Desmond Child related stuff (Boltons "how can we be lovers" for example), but I still love it though....not that it matters much, but in terms of being consistant, I still slightly favour "Love hurts". Did little in the US, but was a big hit album in the UK.

TBH It's A Man's World and Believe are my favorites by her.

I love a few of the track off "it's a mans world", but dislike some of the others LOL. Seems like thats the album people forget about.

I have the "believe" album but I still havn't played it yet. I also only found out recently that "It's a mans world" was remixed and rejigged for the US? I have the UK version, but wouldn't mind trying the US version if I saw it cheap enough. "What about the moonlight" and "the gunman" are probably my favourites. Some nice obscure covers on that one (and some more obvious ones LOL).

The only good remix on the U.S one is One By One. Gives a whole new feel to more rockish original

Def unique. Wasn't crazy about her voice till I heard "gypsies, tramps & thieves". I like her early/mid 70s material best.

But elvreh night the men would come arowlnd and lay their money dowln....

I love how she puts those "L's" in everything and she definitely scores points for being a whore. lol

The video is a piece of work too. I forgot how gorgeous she was before the surgeries.
