Don't you love those "killing" stories? Kurt didn't even want the fame. Folks are real gullible. The record labels killed whatever was popular that paved the way for Nirvana's mainstream success in the early '90s. But yeah it's ridiculous that some artist of some genre accusing one man of "killing a genre".

He must have killed Michael Bolton's career too, because he disappeared and showed up decades later on Dancing With The Stars in a dog house.

I think people use the word KILL because Cobain had this hostile, arrogant, creepy attitude towards many of the genres that existed before him (specially 80s music); many grown-up folks just couldn't stand this kind of attitute, like a "dark, vengeful rock messiah of the NEW generation" (bs, in my opinion);

yes, the media contributed to perpetuate this image, but he made PLENTY of comments/interviews that proved that he was, after all, exactly like that, I mean, the guy TRULY thought/said that genres like disco, dance/pop, electro, macho-metal etc were an abomination

His comments were just that... comments. He was no different than artists like (his former bandmate) Dave Grohl today complaining about how rock music is not respected these days.

I think Axl is way better than Kurt Cobain could ever have been but that's just my opinion and yes, I am pissed off that he killed off hair metal and rock music. It hasn't been the same ever since.

All hair metal was to me was titties, ass, long hair, guitars, drugs and drinks. Besides by the time hair metal died, the titties and asses went to hip-hop videos.
