Is he? I'm trying to find new music to listen to (can't only just listen 2 Prince, Bowie, Billy Idol, Duran Duran all day haha) and since everyone likes Jack White I decided to give him a try...

So for someone who hasn't listened to him and for a person who loves the music of those listed above, could you list some of his best songs?

yeah, jack white's pretty good, if a bit overrated...

i can't list songs, but the white stripes' icky thump, raconteurs' consolers of the lonely and the dead weather's second album that i forget the name of are my favorites. if i was just starting to explore his work, though, i would do it chronologically.

as far as other artists/bands...i dunno. i've been enjoying re-rediscovering david byrne/talking heads since the release of his new album (he's better at being what prince shoulda oughtta been than prince is); the new album makes me want to listen to some st. vincent. heartless bastards have been getting alot of play from me lately, they'd be a good accompaniment to jack white.

Jack White is pretty cool.

He's good but a bit overrated. I like his White Stripes stuff much better than I do his solo work. I remember having a convo with a friend of mine, who's an upcoming artist(guitarist) and he thought Jack Whites guitar skills were overrated because he lacked the technique and feeling, but that was just his opinion and everyone is entitled to their own.

Jack white is really good, but I think he appeals to a specific type of music fan.

I am not sure your examples make me think Jack White is who you would like, but yeah he writes good rock and has a lot of personality & energy.
