My favorite song from them! I was just listening to this a couple days ago. I think the background vocalist is Joniece Jamson or something like that. Love it!

Song used to scare the fuck outta me!

What's the song about, other than, yes, a

missionary man?

This is one of my all-time favorite videos and songs from Eurythmics. The long intro is amazing, especially with the harmonica and "mystery" brewing. And you are right - those background vocals by Joniece Jamison are fantastic. She really could have had a solo career all of her own!

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

i have to listen to "the last time" at least once a month every since first getting a copy

of that album in 1988. lol

totally love that album, although it does kind of fizzle out toward the end a bit for me.

"savage" is my favorit. but "revenge" is right up there too.

Revenge is my 3rd favorite Eurythmics album. Touch is my 1st, Be Yourself Tonight my 2nd, and Sweet Dreams my 4th.

i give "touch" another try every year or so but i never connect to it as much

as i do to all their other albums (the only one i like less is "peace").

it's got a few absolute killer tracks (mainly the deeper, darker, cold stuff) but

i just don't feel 'right by your side' all the way through to 'the first cut', which

is too big a portion of the album for me.

I hate Right By Your Side, probably my least favorite Eurythmics song actually.

"Savage" is my favorite too, followed by "Sweet Dreams (are made of this)". Not sure where "Revenge" would rank overall but I do really like it. I agree that side one is stronger than side two, but there are some good tracks on side two as well. I think "Let's Go" is the weakest by far - one of my least favorite Eurythmics tracks. But I love "In This Town" and "I Remember You"

lol. that's the one that completely throws me every single time lol

i think i should try the album again after replacing that with the

bside "you take some lentils & you take some rice" which i like

a lot. perhaps that will change it for me somehow.

i know you love that album so much and that is the only reason i keep going back

to it every time thinking "ok, this time i'm gonna fall in love with it cuz if herman

likes it so much i must be missing something"

then i listen to it and just have to admit that sometimes our tastes don't overlap

as much as we often think smile

Missionary Man trivia:

Apparently it was a Lennox song and Stewart didn't feel it was worth recording (or releasing - can't remember which). Both were friendly with Dylan and she made noises about Bob possibly wanting the song (Not bloody likely! :jerry:). IIRC, she seemed to actually believe this. falloff Regardless, says this is what prompted DS to change his mind.
