Ciara -Yay or Nay

New Ciara album coming soon with this as the lead single.

I don't really understand how she is able to continue to make albums when I don't see them making big numbers. Either her label really loves her or she has a big enough fanbase to keep her afloat. Personally, I like her ballads more than her uptempos most of the time. 'Speechless' from her last album is still on heavy rotation for me. mushy

Yay. I wish she and her dancers would have done another wall grind

like they did on Promise. I need to go to the ATL and handle this.

An inferior version of the only interesting thing she's ever done...

To the point: nay.

Yay!

I like Ciara, ESPECIALLY her videos....She tend to sound better with a slower cadence in her vocal delivery. She is not the greatest singer but that is not why I like her so much. I think she looks great and dances great. Her material is sooooo inconsistant, like they are still trying to get her sound...I don't think Ciara has a sound, but she most defiantely has a trend, not just the fact that can contort her frame in the most ridiculous poses....you know that she is gonna dance and look well doing it. At a point the comparison with her and Beyonce was getting on my nerves. Yes there was some things Ciara did that look waaay too familiar to Beyonce, but Bey is no angel in that catergory either. Her songs are catchy but not memorable, her videos visually have more lasting effect than her actual songs IMO. When the (Ride) video was release she got noooooo love on the org for that...I was in the deep minority in the like catergory. (Promise) is a good song, reminds me of Prince for some reason and the video was hot, you have to admit that her legs are ridiculously long and sexy.

She like Rihanna are caught up in what appears to be an identity crisis. They have no impact on the industry. However the industry as it is today have no real investment for that sort of thing, this is why I don't get my hopes up to ever believe we will ever see the likes of MJ/Prince/Madonna or groups like U2/RollingStones/Aeromsith. Music is soooo disposable these days like marriage.

Look at Brandi, her new song with Chris Brown is cute but IMO beneath her vocal ability. It showcases absolutely NOTHING. What that song does is keep her relevant and keeps a check in her pocket. It's sad but it is what it is. I want CiCi to have her moment but she and her team really need to dig deep and pull the best from her, and for GOD sakes she needs to NEVER act in another movie EVER again. They need to hone her hip/hop/pop/r&b skills, she does remind me of Aliyah TO A POINT, you see the potential and right as the light seems to be burning bright, along comes a strong wind and shuts that shit down. lol I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed for her that a new album will have some substance.

I agree. She really needs to re-invent herself.

Yep, she should do what Cassie did - doing more modelling jobs.

I have to say that her ability to continue to release albums is what really amazes me because Mariah released 'Glitter' to terrible reviews and low sales and her label pretty much dropped her (and also had to pay her a pretty penny). Maybe that's why they won't release her from whatever contract she's under. Sometimes it's cheaper to keep her as the old saying goes. Personally, I think Ciara is just stuck with trying to find the right sound for her. Her image is there; her dance skills are good; and her voice isn't the worst I've heard in the current female crop of artists. She was compared to Aaliyah when she first came out....a major reason why I refused to really pay any attention to her in the beginning because there was and will always be only one Aaliyah IMO pray . Than she got put in the Beyonce shadow and her and Rihanna had a short war of words. She needs to find that something to get her out of the land of mediocrity. I wouldn't mind seeing her succeed. Just my twocents

nod I agree with you 100% on pretty much everything. I really like 'Ride' and still jam to it. When she did 'Love, Sex, and Magic' with Justin Timberlake, I remember orgers posting mixed feelings about it (mostly the video). That song really wasn't anything special but the video was pretty fire I thought. She has a good song every so often but nothing consistent enough to keep her in the spotlight for long. Even though she and Rihanna both seem to be in identity crisis mode, Rihanna somehow manages to pull off her state of confusion but I think that's mainly because she's allowed her personal life to become the basis behind her selling power. People love a good drama especially when it's real life drama unfortunately. I thought I was the only one who felt that way about the new Brandi video. I think it's an awful song for her and the video is even worse. It's like she's trying to be someone she really isn't but probably is (if that makes any sense lol )

Personally, I don't think Ciara has the charisma and geniune chic elegance that Aaliyah exuded during her time on this earth. There was just something about Aaliyah that is incomparable to this day. No female artist has been able to capture that Aaliyah swagger after all these years and I think that's why she is still so greatly missed by so many. I believe she would have been a huge superstar if she had not been called home soo soon. I still miss her to this day. sad

The difference between Ciara and Cassie is at least

Ciara had 15 minutes of fame(at least one great album and a

couple more hit singles) while Cassie only had 2 seconds of fame(no hits and a nude picture

that hit the internet)

She's like the Mya of her generation... So much potential but easly over looked.

As much as Ciara can dance, you would think she would be just as popular as LMFAO, Lil Jon, Flo Rida, Pitbull and all these other "ectro pop" artists are right now. Not sure how she managed to miss that train.
