Bands that haven't done remasters? With all this talk of Prince not having remastered his catalogue, what other popular older bands of the 80's and before can you think of that haven't remastered at least some of their back catalogue?, i can only think of Crowded House, but maybe i'm having a blank moment... We're here, might as well get into it.

I guess any act whose records have never been on CD and has been out of print all this time, which is a lot. That would also include anybody whose masters have been lost or destroyed in floods, fire, deteriorated tapes, etc. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Most of the biggies have been remastered at least once since their original CD issue but I can think of a few.
The Who have had extensive reissues but many of these were remixes, supposedly because some of the 2-track masters were lost. So the original mixes need rematersing on CD.
The indie label SST Records which put out Bad Brains, Black Flag, Husker Du, Meat Puppets, Minutemen, early Soundgarden and some others has steadfastly refused to re-do any of its CDs, some of which sound horrible. Some of the bands like Dinosaur Jr and Sonic Youth managed to get the rights restored but most are still languishing. Some of their obscure but legendary albums from bands like Saccharine Trust and the Dicks have never had CDs issued.

The Dicks debut LP Kill From The Heart was reissued on CD recently by the Alternative Tentacles label. It was remastered by Jello Biafra himself, but they used an original LP instead of the master tapes from SST of course.
