I agree Mariah has a long history of taking the "diva" role to the extreme. She likes to be the center of attention.I bet that she's purposely trying to piss Nick off,to make her act crazy and get fired.

not saying that it was a planned thing i just think its being overblown and made into something that wasnt, im guessing somebody that works on the show "tweeted" this whole story to TMZ and they blew it up "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

How the fuck did Minaj end up being a judge for up and coming vocalists? She can't sing. The Industry 4ya. It'll be Nikki WHO? in about three more years. Rapping doesn't take a whole lot of talent. SINGING, on the other hand...
Additionally, Carey has 22 years of experience, is an instrument and can truly be an asset to the show's ultimate objective, which is seeking true vocal talent. If anyone can spot/mentor talent, it's her. Hands down.
Ever heard Minaj sing? I rest my case. Minaj is just another very typical case of the kind of (bad) entertainment some of the people in this country tout as "talent." Sadly, there is none. Not a trace. [Edited 10/10/12 11:05am] Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

I was hoping Mariah would have snatched that stupid ass pink wig off her head. Oh well, maybe next time. I'm not gonna be watching this season at this point. Mostly because of Nicki Minaj but also because I know I'm not gonna get to see Mariah slap the dog shit outta of her because it's gonna be edited out just like this won't be shown on the actual show. Nicki may have spent a large part of her life in Queens, NY; but, Mariah is from Huntington on Long Island, NY...Long Island chicks aren't gonna play nice-nice with you hunny. Just sayin.

“American Idol” Auditions Head to Baton Rouge for More Fake Fireworks
“American Idol” auditions head to Baton Rouge, Louisiana now, with more fake fireworks planned among the judges. As everyone knows by now, in Charlotte, North Carolina Nicki Minaj picked a fight with Mariah Carey. The news mushroomed into World War III and cast a big spotlight on “Idol” sure to build ratings when the show returns in January.
All of this is planned, dear friends. Back in the day, it was Simon vs. Paula. And whether Simon would leave the show. Or Paula. This is what Simon Fuller and Nigel Lythgoe were so good at: creating huge amounts of contentious publicity designed to attract viewers. You need it in the first few weeks before viewers have favorite singers to root for.
I was discussing this with a Fox TV exec, reminiscing about the PT Barnum days of fake “Idol” publicity. And now, it’s back! Nicki Minaj has been assigned the role of instigator. Mariah Carey is the victim. Who knows what they have planned for Keith Urban? Something wicked this way comes. Baton Rouge may not be ready for this gumbo. http://www.showbiz411.com...-fireworks

'Idol' divas Carey, Minaj take their feud public
By | Associated Press – 4 hours ago
NEW YORK (AP) — Is this "Idol" threat an idle threat? Mariah Carey told Barbara Walters her fellow "American Idol" judge Nicki Minaj threatened to shoot her, Walters reported on ABC's "The View" Thursday morning. Consulting her notes, Walters recounted a phone conversation with Carey just before the ABC talk show went on the air, with new details of Tuesday's blowup between Carey and Minaj that was partly captured on video made public on the TMZ website. Walters said Carey told her that "when Nicki walked off the set, multiple people heard Nicki say, 'If I had a gun I would shoot the (adjective unspoken by Walters) bitch.'" After a meeting on Wednesday attended by the pair, Minaj said to Carey, "I love you, but we might fight again," according to Walters. "Mariah responded, 'No, we will not.'" Walters said Carey told her that the singer had hired extra security. "Mariah said she doesn't feel comfortable emotionally," Walters reported. "But she will continue with the show because she loves the show. And she loves mentoring the contestants." Walters issued an invitation to Minaj, a past guest of "The View," asking her to return to the show to give her side of the story. But Minaj wasted no time responding with a string of Twitter postings. One read: "Hey yAll. Lets just say nicki said smthn about a gun. Ppl will believe it cuz she's a black rapper. Lmao. I'll then hit up Barbara n milk it" She continued: "Ironically no camera or mic heard the gun comment tho. Lol (at) the struggle. Not even the producers believed u. Say no to violence barbz." A bit later, she tweeted: "I don't call tmz n Barbara Walters cuz I stand on my own two feet. Never needed an army. God is good. Insecurity is as cruel as the grave." Rumors of drama between Minaj and Carey began to swirl as soon as the new panel was officially announced on Sept. 16. Then the blurry web video released Tuesday by TMZ.com displayed what appeared to be an argument between Minaj and Carey during the tryout taping in Charlotte, N.C. On the video, Minaj announces that she is no longer putting up with "her ... Highness," in an expletive-enhanced reference to Carey. Fox's "American Idol" is still the nation's most popular show despite a dramatic fall-off in ratings last season that led to Randy Jackson being joined by three new judges, who also include country singer Keith Urban. The show's new season premieres in January.

It's the feud of the season! In the space of just a few weeks, American Idol judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj have become locked in a battle complete with f-bombs, a reported gun threat – and a bemused Keith Urban caught in the middle. The once cordial stars are now seemingly deadlocked at the judges' table. So where did all the fighting begin? Minaj's profanity-laced outburst (which was caught on video and posted on TMZ) may have been the final straw in a series of difficulties between the stars. "Mariah has been saying little things to jab at Nicki from day one of shooting," an Idol source tells PEOPLE. "Mariah doesn't think Nicki can sing and doesn't think she should be judging folks. Nicki has been taking all of the jabs, but on this particular day she lost it." Other insiders insist Carey did not provoke Minaj. But clearly tensions were high, as Minaj had stormed off the set earlier in the day. "There was a contestant who liked opera, and Mariah was talking to her as a pop singer who also liked opera," says one insider. "Nicki cut her off and slammed her fist on the table. Mariah may have been going on a bit too long but she did apologize. But then Nicki flipped out and started yelling." A Threat Against Mariah? After the outburst, according to multiple sources who were there (as well as Carey herself, whom Barbara Walters quoted on The View the next day), Minaj said as she was walking off the set, "If I had a a gun I'd shoot that f---ing b-tch." (Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe on Wednesday said the report was "absolutely not true.")On Thursday, Minaj Tweeted, presumably in reference to Carey: "All I do is compliment u. That's not enuff? Ur a legend, cheer up. U don't have to run down ur resume or feel intimidated. Shady McGrady..." As for who leaked the damning video, "On the day of the fight production staff were the only people in the room," says the Idol source. Now that the catfight is out of the bag, "they are talking about firing Nicki. That is still up for debate. They are worried about how she will act during the live shows." Fox has no comment on the feud – or Minaj's future as a judge on Idol. A source close to Minaj told PEOPLE earlier this week that the rapper has "always been really professional. She's like a Gaga or Madonna and is very serious about the order of things. She is tough and direct minded." But is she prone to violence? Minaj Tweeted about the incident, speaking in the the third person and referring to Walters's commentary: "Hey yAll. Lets just say nicki said smthn about a gun. ppl will believe it cuz she's a black rapper. Lmao. I'll then hit up Barbara n milk it." Insiders tell PEOPLE that Carey has hired extra security in the wake of the threat. Still, says one, "Mariah knows she has a job to do and doing it. She is a professional and the show goes on." As of late Thursday, the feuding judges were back to being professionals. For now, at least. "There was a photo shoot [Thursday] with all the judges and Ryan [Seacrest], and everybody showed up and it went smoothly," a source close to production tells PEOPLE. "Everyone is looking forward to another full day of judging in Baton Rouge on Friday – and to moving forward."

Mariah Carey-Nicki Minaj incident lingers on, 'American Idol' should let both goReading from notes taken during a phone conversation with Carey, Walters reported that the singer claims Minaj threatened to shoot her and that several bystanders heard the threat. Walters added that during a Wednesday meeting attended by the judges, Minaj told Carey, “I love you, but we might fight again,” to which Carey replied, “No, we will not.” Since the catfight, Carey has hired extra security, claiming she doesn’t feel comfortable emotionally. In spite of her discomfort, Carey indicated she would continue doing the job for which she was hired because she loves “American Idol” and enjoys mentoring its contestants. Walters invited Minaj to appear on “The View” to present the story from her point of view, but the rapper opted to use Twitter as her platform instead. “Hey yAll. Lets just say nicki said smthn about a gun. Ppl will believe it cuz she’s a black rapper. Lmao. I’ll then hit up Barbara n milk it,” she tweeted to her more than 14 million followers. Publicity Stunt? Something has got to be done about the train wreck “American Idol” is becoming if the producers want to see the show live on beyond its twelfth season. Some people believe the spat between Carey and Minaj is part of a publicity stunt orchestrated by the show’s producers to boost the reality singing competition show’s drooping ratings. If the incident is part of a ratings-boosting campaign, the plan is backfiring. Initially, the leaked video generated interest in the friction between Minaj and Carey, but in the days since, the confrontation has become more of a blot than boon for the “American Idol” product. Dump Them? Some are calling for the ...dump Minaj, but in all fairness to the rapper, it takes two to tango and Carey was doing her part to keep the argument going. In other words, if Minaj goes, then so should Carey. Think about it, if “Idol” producers let Minaj go, but keep Carey, it’ll look as if they’re siding with Carey. The same would be true if they kept Minaj and let Carey go. Cutting ties with both singers would wash the show’s hands of the entire mess and would still generate coverage and ratings as replacement judges were put into place. Then, just air the auditions that are already in the can and enjoy the resultant ratings boost when they air in January. What the “Idol” bosses are more likely to do, however, is to milk the incident for all it’s worth and keep both Minaj and Carey. All in the name of saving a sinking ship. Bottom Line If the feud between Carey and Minaj is staged, then shame on us for buying into it. If the flare up is legitimate, then shame on “American Idol” for tolerating it. In any other workplace scenario, co-workers who behaved like Minaj and Carey did would be subject to disciplinary action and might lose their jobs. Stay tuned for more as the story is sure to drag on. Season 12 of “American Idol” premieres in January on Fox 13 in Provo.

Cee Lo Green says Mariah/Nicki feud is "bogus"
"The Voice" judge Cee Lo Green is calling BS on Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj's fiery feud -- telling TMZ, "We're in L.A. ... practically EVERYTHING is fake in this town"
.Cee Lo had just finished lunch in West Hollywood yesterday when we asked if he thought Nicki and Mariah's "Idol" fight was legit -- and he said, "This is Hollywood, California. Hardly anything's legit."As for a possible "American Idol" ratings boost following the Nicki/Mariah fight -- Cee Lo says he's not worried, claiming, "I'm not intimidated. I think it's entertainment for everybody."

American Idol is far surperior to X-Factor, at least AI has at least one talented singer fit for judging

Lol..the Judges are a non-factor for me.
X-Factor has a variety of contestants, even tho it's mainly vocalists they also have rappers and groups as well. The performances on X-Factor are also more interesting because they mirror what entertainers actually do on stage (not just a mic and back-up singers).
But I'll admit I was never an big idol watcher, I only watched the season that Jordin Sparks won. XF is a breathe of fresh air.
