from the very beginning,Mariah wasn't thrilled that the producers picked Nicki to be a judge on the show.She wanted them to choose her buddy Lenny Kravitz I think the producers assumed that,because Mariah and Nicki don't really like each other,it would make for explosive fireworks each week.Anything to improve ratings,lol.

That's what I wonder. Cant say if whether or not it was deliberately staged, but I do believe the producers wanted/were hoping for some drama to happen between Nikki & Mariah to generate publicity and get people to tune in to this sinking ship of a show. That's why they cast them both as judges in the first place. Now maybe there was some behind the scenes instigating and manipulating going on by production staff to help create a situation to bring about a tense altercation between the two--but they got more than what they bargained for. But I would not put anything past these overly ambitious reality tv show producers who are very willing to do just about anything to get ratings for their show.

Mariah couldn't fight her way out of a paper bag, but that's a good thing because I wouldn't want to see these 2 bitches in a physical fight. I like Mariah, but Nicki is a skank ho. I hope she gets her fat ass booted off that show. It could happen seeing as she has no class and no regard for proper behavior.

I bet at this point Keith is wishing he wasn't so damn greedy and turned down the offer of doing this show.

Nigel added that Mariah confronted Nicki this morning and asked if she made the death threat and Nicki said absolutely not. Nigel says Mariah's people are stirring the pot and gave her bad info.


Nicki Minaj's rant on the "American Idol" set Tuesday went way beyond name-calling ... she threatened Mariah Carey's life -- this according to sources connected to the production.

Our sources say ... in the heat of the argument, Nicki said, "If I had a gun I would shoot her."

The alleged threat was not captured on the video obtained by TMZ. But this is interesting ... if you listen to the audio closely, 11 seconds in you hear Nicki say to Mariah, "Off with your head! Off with your head!."

A source close to Nicki says the singer calls B.S. on the death threat allegation.

Yep, no surprise that you and the producers want this kind of conflict and drama. Everybody is talking about it and this story is the entertainment headline of the day.

They should have given that seat to Aretha, Chaka or Patti. Nicki wouldn't have dared threw a fit in front of them. And if she were insane enough to do so, they would have ended up taking that skank out on a stretcher because Aretha, Chaka or Patti would have ended up wiping up the floor with her. She knows she can get away with certain behaviors with Mimi. Other people would have torn her from limb to limb. And yes, I do feel sorry for poor Keith Urban. It probably doesn't bother Mimi because she's used to being around those kinds of people but Keith has probably never experienced anything like this. True. Aretha is too old to get physical but she would've had such a command of the situation Nicki certainly would've been intimidated.

Patti would've matched her toe-to-toe.

Which is still why I don't understand why Nicki wasn't smarter about the whole thing. Even if Mariah did want her blocked from the show she was still hired.

You're giving a lot of credence to the role of the judges and the whole enterprise as a whole.

It's not my money so I don't care BUT, I think the fact that they paid J Lo 12 million, and that they're paying these two that much money, and that Britney is getting like 10 million for that other show, is the REAL travesty. It just doesn't compute.

This thread is funny as hell so I'll keep up on the fiasco right here!

Mariah has worked with an endless list of people over the past two decades, from producers to musicians to directors to actresses, and there has never been any allusions from any of them to her being unpleasant or unprofessional on set. the furthest the media could ever go with her is that she has an upscale lifestyle, but never having a reputation of being a bitch. even when people like Madonna or Aguilera tried to stir BS with her she knew how to handle them with class.

rivalries and personal conflicts do happen, you just don't drag that on set and have the entire production shut down just because you have a temper, it's more than just you on that set, and as far as I can see on that footage, Mariah was sitting there composed and collected, while Nicki was shouting all over the place like a brat.

if anyone needs a "ho sit down," it's Mariah. she's so far up her own ass it's sickening. and that's coming from a fan! and i wouldn't be surpised to learn Mariah was needling at Nicki to get her to errupt and look like "the problem." MC doesn't want a younger and more culturally relevant woman sitting next to her on ANY panel.

I don't think it was a stunt. Mariah should have put a stop to it, from the get go. Remember, she is the one, who has the bigger dressing room and the bigger paycheck. That being said, I would have loved to see, Nicki kick that "I am only black, when it's convenient", bitch's ass.
