I have to think that I'm at least as famous as The Meters.
I know, you've never heard of me. I bet you've never heard of The Meters, either.
I heard of the Meters, I saw their records at relatives houses and they were also like Booker T & The MG's, the Muscle Shoals house band, and The Funk Brothers in that they played on a lot of other folks records. I didn't know this was the "Hit Records Hall Of Fame".
You, my friend, have heard of EVERYBODY.
For instance, I know exactly what song is going through your head when I type the name "R. Dean Taylor".
People's opinions about the Hall of Fame are strange. I don't see what's so strange about the Meters. They were funk pioneers... why wouldn't they be considered a serious contender just like War were?
Apparently some people think only really famous people made music, or that people they like should be in. I don't know why people take this so seriously anyway, especially if Jann Wenner can get inducted. It's just a museum in Cleveland, Ohio.
Exactly! That's why I should be in it.
Let's mount a RodeoSchro for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2013 campaign.
Perhaps the greatest rumor on rock history was back in the late '70's/early '80's when it was rumored that KISS was actually the guys from Van Halen.
I thought it was that Klaatu were the reunited Beatles or that Paul McCartney was killed in a car wreck in 1966 and the other 3 replaced him with a look alike. You can look at album cover pictures (Capitol versions) and play certain songs backwards for clues. There's also the many Elvis Presley sightings in the late 1980's.
You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Well that and the rumour (which is true) that they put their blood in the ink of a comic
It's true that KISS put vials of their own blood in the ink for the comic book in the 70s. There used to be a video of it, but I can't find it.
I thought the rumor was that Cheap Trick was really KISS.
Gene Simmons produced a demo for Van Halen and tried to get them a record deal in their early days. Gene said that Eddie Van Halen wanted to join KISS in the early 80s after Ace Frehely left! I've never heard this story until now:
