You know besides Detroit Rock City and Beth I couldn't name you another KISS song that I've ever heard. So part of me doesn't get the hype bout them. confused

Rock and Roll all Night and Party Every Day?

Of course you're right. They are awful! lol But it's a R&R hall of fame, and they are as famous as just about anyone. And they have been famous forever and been a pretty influential force in terms of showmanship and marketing.

The fact that they (KISS) are still performing live and recording albums really says something!

Don't dismiss anyone, there are loads of (shitty) artists already inducted. lol.

Not a big fan or anything, but who's to say who deserves to be in?

Those Motown artists some of you mentioned don't mean shit to some of us, just saying.

Both Kiss and Motown mean something to a good portion of people...including me. Just put them in so we can shut the fuck up. Rush and Deep Purple too, goddamn it lol

KISS contributed as much to rock and roll as just about anyone else in the Hall. Certainly as much as anyone from the 70's on.

It's a travesty that they are not in the Rock and Roll and Soul and Hip Hop and Rap and Pop and Rockabilly Hall of Fame.

Well KISS should be in mainly for the influence, are they cheesy, ok, but in terms of them being one of the first bands to be able to market themselves, they really did have a "beatle" like craze going for a little bit when they had albums tours comics lunch boxes movies etc...Are they musical icons, YES are they musical genusies NO but lets be real go through that HALL list and alot dont qualify, Percy Sledge? come on, love that one song, but no way this cat should be in first shot while Queen and JOhn Mellencamp were last minute thoughts and took three shots to get in.

AS for the whole RUSH thing, sorry im just not into this band, respect them, but to me you put them in and their progressive rock or whatever you call it, then you gotta put Journey in Styx in, and shit CHICAGO before them all since they had one of the greatest guitar players EVER in Terry Kath.

Im sure the Duran Duran issue is going to come up and i agree they should have at least a shot, Bon Jovi at this point i think will just about get in if on the ballot again, HEART, well its a big year for them a new cd just out thats amazing, a box set prior, a book out now, a tour, shit they are FEMALE ROCK none better than Ann on vocals.

Hmm...

The 2012 nominee pages for Donna Summer, Heart and Joan Jett have gone missing, it's possible we already know three of the nominees for 2013 already if that's the case. It's a good case KISS and/or Rush could indeed finally be included in the nominees list. Everyone else is a question mark.

And on their Facebook page, they said they'll "announce the 2013 nominees soon" on their Facebook page. "Soon" may be Wednesday or Thursday at the latest...

Im holding out for HEART, because its time, its way overdue as with many, it blows my mind that they didnt get in last year after finally getting a shot, i dont know who is really saying that they dont belong there, i mean if you want to penalize them for the 80's which IS WHAT THE HALL IS doing to acts like Chicago Hall and Oates, Bon Jovi etc.... But to dismiss Heart's 70's work, 90's work, solo work, Lovemongers work, and to me they are the female zeppelin, and deserve their spot because they are the female rock pioneers!

OH SHIT!!!

Rush, Public Enemy among Rock Hall of Fame noms

By CHRIS TALBOTT, AP Music Writer – 6 minutes ago

Rush, Deep Purple, Public Enemy and N.W.A. are among the group of first-time nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

They join returnees Heart, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Randy Newman, Donna Summer and Kraftwerk among the 15 artists vying for entry.

Even in the iPod age, the list of nominees up for induction in 2013 is as eclectic as they come. Nominees differ wildly in sound, origin and influence, ranging from the enduring prog rock of Canadian trio Rush and Procul Harum to German proto-electronica act Kraftwerk, the disco of Chic and Summer to the New Orleans funk of The Meters and the blues of Albert King and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band.

Motown also is represented by first-ballot entries The Marvelettes.

Joel Peresman, President and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, acknowledged the extreme variety of this year's nominee class in a Thursday news release.

"The definition of 'rock and roll' means different things to different people, but as broad as the classifications may be, they all share a common love of the music," Peresman said. "This year we again proudly put forth a fantastic array of groups and artists that span the entire genre that is 'rock and roll.'"

A group of 600 artists, music historians and members of the industry will choose 2013's inductees. They will be honored April 18 in Los Angeles.

It's the sixth time on the ballot for Summer, but the first since her death in May at age 63. Chic is on the ballot for the seventh time since 2003.

The Marvelettes got nominated.

If Kraftwerk get in, I wonder will Wolfgang & Karl show up since they've been out of the group for a long time.

Yeah I doubt Kraftwerk will get in. lol And actually there were new members of the committee last year so that may explain these nominations.

I don't get it-why would KISS be nominated? That's like Poison being nominated.

Totally agree, such an overrated act.

Aha! So Kiss should not be in the ROCK N ROLL Hall of fame but Chaka Kahn and Donna Summer (and any other non Rock acts or Rock acts, who are one hit wonders and/or not relevant in any way... jeez, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts?? Seriously??) should be?? Yeah, right!

^^Ah, wow! 2 big hits? And those happened 30 years ago. I would be hard pressed to name any other song or classic album besides those. So how is she more valid than Kiss? How are the Runaways valid (other than being one of the few all female rockbands) and how do they factor into nominating Joan Jett and and the Blackhearts? Which is a totally different entity?

And while I'm not a Deep Purple fan I think it's ridiculous that it took 20 years until they got their first nomination. Before they induct all the other acts that are not rock at all or just get inducted because the hall runs out of acts to induct they should have inducted the rock bands that really deserved it.

Rush Deep Purple Public Enemy N.W.A. Heart Joan Jett and the Blackhearts Donna Summer Kraftwerk Randy Newman Chic Procol Harum The Meters Albert King Paul Butterfield and the Blues Band The Marvelettes

Procol Harum? Really?

I'm happy to see Rush on that list. I'm surprised and pleased to see Kraftwerk. Randy Newman, Chic, Heart, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts - - all deserve to be in. I'd say Deep Purple is borderline, at best. Donna Summer is a gimme. Public Enemy and N.W.A. will probably both get in.

I have to think that I'm at least as famous as The Meters.

I know, you've never heard of me. I bet you've never heard of The Meters, either.

So next year, you know what to do:

I don't think both Public Enemy and NWA will get in same time, Heart better get in this time, Donna Summer will now, probably Rush, Deep Purple shouldn't get in.
