Green Day Goes NUTS because of Usher and Justin Bieber and breaks his guitar!

At the iHeartRadio festival in Las Vegas this weekend, Green Day's set was cut short to make room for more pop-friendly acts (like Usher, whose set ran 25 minutes long) -- and Armstrong was pretty peeved about it, to put things lightly.

Realizing his time was running low, Armstrong stopped his band in the middle of a song to play a new tune -- and then he realized that he didn't even have enough time on the clock for the new material. So he ranted.
Armstrong screamed, “F**k this sh*t. Give me a f**king break. One minute left. One minute f**king left. You’re gonna give me one f**king minute?”
He continued, “Let me f**king tell you something, let me tell you something, I’ve been around since f**king 198-f**king-8. And you’re gonna give me one f**king minute? You’ve gotta be f**king kidding me! You’re f**king kidding me. What the f**k!”
“I’m not f**king Justin Bieber, you motherf**kers!” yelled Armstrong, adding, “You’ve gotta be f**king joking. This is a f**king joke.”

Watch the outburst below, but remember -- lots of profanity, so you might want to ask your children, grandmother, and/or delicate-minded pet iguana to leave the room.. But why pick on Justin? The poor guy wasn't even at the festival! Other performers at the weekend event include Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Bon Jovi, Miranda Lambert, No Doubt and Usher.

Billie Joe Armstrong, frontman of Green Day, is angered because iHeartRadio shortened their setlist 15 minutes, from 45 minutes to 30, to make time for Usher and Rihanna. He notes that he and Green Day have been working since 1988 to gain their notability and popularity, unlike the "artists" Green Day's time was cut to make way for.

Well the headline of this stated USHER and he had nothing to say about Usher, or Rihanna taking up set list space, second the Justin Beiber reference is like a "metaphor" people need to chill about that, its like when people made lypsynching jokes it was always "We aint fucking Milli Vanilli" its a metaphor to what the popular thing is now. Outside of his profanity i have no problem with anything here, and its a double standard on the ORG cause we bitch about Rihanna and Bieber 24/7

This wasn't about Usher and Bieber, this is about someone who has anger management problems. If he and his band knew they didn't have long, why even agree to do it? I don't buy his outburst. bored2

And I agree with Matty...

As far as them being a good or bad band i could care less mainly because they are from a decade that destroyed 2 genres of music, the 90's ruined Rock and Rb all in one shot. As for beiber like i was saying "metaphor" beiber is everyones whipping boy now, like chris brown so they should expect it. As for the outburst, the set was changed before they went on stage not before they signed on, so there was NO notice, thats what this article fails to mention, they were cut short during the event, and trust me there have been others that had "moments" like this, minus the cursing which was just dumb, and he is not a threatening person at all, look at him, hes like Prince's size for god sakes, the girls in the audience could beat him down. But there have been KNOWN happenings like this where an artist is cut down while on stage, THAT is not professional so him smashing the stage was just desserts for them.

I can understand why he was pissed if their set was changed with no notice. But please. rolleyes

"I've been around since '88!" SO FRIGGIN' WHAT!?! The platform Green Day would eventually pander to -- the platform that made them who they are today; the platform celebrated at the festival they were playing; the platform that appropriately places them among the same hokey pop rotation as Justin Bieber -- didn't give a crap about them until the mid '90s.

well i can partially agree with that but the 90's destroyed the idea of RB being a live thing, Mint Condition was about the only RB band with instruments still, the infusion of all the "shirt open" RB groups like 112 and NExt and Men of Vizion etc...and then the whole idea of 88 minute cds with 22 tracks, and of course the old remix idea, disgrace and why it destroyed it all. Neo Soul i kind of look at like "acoustic acts" in Rock that were labeled ALT Country another lame term.

Pretty much! lol He agreed to be on the SAME FUCKING STAGE as Justin Bieber. The most rock and roll thing to do would've been to tell dude who handed him the invitation: "fuck no I ain't doing that shit, my shit's more valuable than to be on your little punk stage" but no what does he do, take the money and complain like a bitch. That ain't rock and roll. I don't give a damn what some of y'all think. lol

keep your rhythm and make those 60 seconds count. lol

As for Green Day, Billie Joe Armstrong embarrassed himself more than the event producers, acting like a spoiled child.

falloff Awww, he threw a temper tantrum like a toddler and broke his guitar. lol

Seriously dude, why get mad about the state of music today? It's been declining for quite some time now and that's not all because of Justin Bieber...who wasn't even performing or there for that matter (not defending the Biebs but throw blame at the real reason like a mature adult should). They don't have to like the state of current music but they have to accept that it sucks donkey balls now so either swim in it or get out of it because bitching about it isn't gonna just make it go away.

I like a few Green Day songs but to me they stopped being really punk after 'Dookie' came out JMHO. You can't sell as many albums as that album did and then make a whole successful Broadway play off of another album years later and expect me to believe you are as hardcore as you were before the success and fame tainted your lifestyle. Sorry, but Green Day became pop a long time ago to me and unfortunately for them they aren't as big on the pop scale as artists like Rihanna and Usher. If they want more stage time, they need to do their own concert where no one will give them only 1 minute to finish.

Personally, I could give two shits less about a Green Day because as far as I'm concerned the P!nk/Gwen Stefani duet was more hardcore than Green Day has been in a long time:

Two of the baddest chicks rockin' the stage together...YESSSS!!!!! As far as I'm concerned, they could have docked an extra 10 minutes from the 15 already taken from Green Day so they could have gotten more than just one song duet from these two kickass ladies. *Crosses fingers for another P!nk/Gwen collabo in the 2012*

To be fair, I don't think I've ever seen anyone successfully gotten the guitar smashed on the first try.

I Worked on a Green Day music video... and met the guys briefly. The other 2 are pretty chill, Billie blowjob armstrong has a huge ego though. Youc an tell the minute you walk in the door....

He really believs Green Day where the savior of punk music or some shit.... there the creation of pop-punk lol & he think's they are entitled to do more then most bands & are legends.

I think the success of American Idiot & to a lesser degree 21st centure breakdown .. gave him a huge head about the state os his band.
