The Reason Why Rihanna Will Not Take A Break or Stop Making Music

That Rihanna reign won’t let up and that is with good cause.

Rihanna has become a socialite that makes music. She is becoming better known for what happens in her personal life than the music she makes and tours she embarks on.

Rihanna caught a break a few years ago that pushed her into the limelight. Lets be honest here Rihanna has no outstanding talent that puts her above any other artist. She has no classic records besides “Umbrella” and even that could be argued.

So why is it that Rihanna is about to release her 7th album when other industry heavy hitters have barely released their 4th? That is because she has too. With no real mark in the music world Rihanna could be replaced in a minute. Rihanna is one break away from someone else swooping in and taking her spot.

Yes Rihanna is on top now, but if she leaves the limelight there is nothing to keep her at the top. Much like Kim Kardashian, Kim can’t sit down because if she does sit down, she’ll fall to the fate of Paris Hilton.

Rihanna has to be SEEN in order to be relevant. Her gangster childish antics will only last as long as she is relevant.

Think about it. What Rihanna performance will go down in history like Britney Spears’ “Oops I did it again” at the VMA’s and or what Rihanna song will be duplicated and imitated years from now like Mariah Carey’s “Hero”? None.

Rihanna has failed to make herself a staple in the music world, but a fixture in pop culture. And we all know POP culture trends change every day, so Rihanna must release music and have an image that changes with the time. They have to keep Rihanna hot. There is nothing hot about taking a break.

Long story short. Rihanna doesn’t make timeless classic music. She makes music for the time, and that’s it. Nothing wrong with it but that is why she can’t take a break, because if she takes a break, she falls behind, and if she falls behind, there goes bye bye Rihanna

And before you say I’m wrong, I’ll give you two examples. Ciara and Ashanti. Ciara capitalized off of the crunk and b movement of the early 2000’s but once that time was over she didn’t evolve with the times. Same with Ashanti got caught up with the hip hip and R&B movement, but then when the trend changed to POP music, Ashanti was trapped by not evolving with the times. This is why Rihanna continues to do well; she evolves with the time because if she doesn’t, its murder she wrote.

And I thought she would NEVER take a break or stop making music because she would NEVER break the oath with THIS guy:

I agree with the article except the comment about Shitney having a "historic" performance at the VMAs. She to me is forgettable too and many other girls out there could sing her songs much better than she can.

This is starting to sound like Beyonce of 2006.

Rihanna is getting tired. I'm sick of turing around and she has a new album out, every damn thanksgiving season. The sad part is, if you talk to a Rihanna fan, they proclaim her as a legend and a staple in pop music...and I'm NOT kidding. I guess its easy to make a CD every year when you're not involved in the creative process of making the album.

lol You could totally replace Rihanna's name with Britney's and this article would be true for her also. Seriously, the only major differences between Rihanna and Britney to me is: 1) skin color; 2) one never sings live; and 3) one actually dances better than the other - or used to I should say. Sure, Britney has more memorable pop hits that will never die unlike Rihanna but she didn't write those songs anymore than Rihanna wrote 'Umbrella' so I don't think one is really that much better than the other...JMHO. When the artist only has to contribute vocals to their album, it's not hard from them to pop out albums back to back in a short period of time. I should really re-state that with Britney because most of her vocals are soo altered now that she probably barely even has to be there to do vocals at all. Give Rihanna a few years and she'll be hosting reality competition shows like Ms. Spears; hopefully we won't have to watch her have a public breakdown because that really isn't something that needed to be played out on TV the first time around. sad Good to see Britney in a better place now and hopefully she continues to have happiness regardless of whether her star fades or not.

and she's not far off from 25, the age beyonce was when the backlash started with dreamgirls/b'day though IMO that was her best era as a solo artist

Rihanna isn't an artist, she's a team of 20something people. She has no authenticity whatsoever, She represents everything wrong within the industry.

The reason why Rhianna will not take a break or stop making music is because (tone-deaf) people keeping buying her music in large quantities. If she were not a huge seller, there is absolutely no way a label would continue to invest money into her so that she can release albums as consistantly and often as she has. I heard she's damn near royalty over in Europe, which really surprises me because I was always under the impression that, as a whole, Europeans had slightly better tastes in music than Americans.

While i am not a Ri Ri fan. It's hard to deny that she had major impact outside of just ''Umbrella'' I mean We Found Love was number 1 for 10 week's & is still a year later overplayed lol i think that track will get love for years.

But i am sure this is just like Mariah or Madonna......

They both had A TON of hits but there is onyl so many that are really in heavy rotation. When is the last time you heard Angel, Causing A Commotion, This Used To Be My Playground or You'l See on the radio? or well... ANYWHERE lol

When is the last time you heard Make It Happen, Never Forget You or Can't Let Go?

I think all these girls where making music & hits constantly... but many will be forgotten afterwards no matter how many.

Hell there is tons of hit songs by Whitney that have not seen the light of day in years either lol

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener
