So there has been thousands of talks on this album.....

It is one of those i love but listen to rarely, but i listened to it today & it seems less & less that this is a difficult record.

I Was one of those that took a few listens to dig it, and most people are the same way with Ok Computer.....

But idk, looking at the album now i love it & don't see why it's seen as a difficult album to enjoy, Kid A to me is the one it takes awhile before it hits you.

I find there are much more somber albums then this & the album isn't that slow, it has it's fast moments to imo.

So what are orgers opinions on this good & bad?

If I ever pull myself together enough to kill myself "No Surprises" is going to be the song playing while I do it. And yes, carbon monoxide is probably the way to go.

For me this isn't a "difficult" album at all and it was their last listenable release. I think Noel Gallagher said something about liking Radiohead better when they wrote actual songs and I wholeheartedly agree.

Oh, OK Computer also sounds really, really good. Fantastic production.

It's one of my 10 favorite albums, of all time.

I love OK Computer..... a lot! But its not my fav radiohead album. In Rainbows is the best Radiohead album imo.

I ignore their 90s material, OK Computer is too nerdy-depressing for my taste, I know it's strong, solid, moderately avantgarde blah blah blah...sorry, it's not my thing

at least Nirvana makes me feel angry and cynical, but 90s Radiohead makes me feel nerdy, isolated and miserable...

I remember how hyped this album was at the time of its release and when I finally heard it at the age of 17 or 18 I was like "I'm too old for this shit, right?". Despite the output of the band being largely seen as "art rock", to me the band has always sounded too much like grunge, a la Pearl Jam.

They've used some "experimental" elements on their records, alright, but I'm not sure if those have ever really complemented the songwriting. Some good ideas here and there, but not feeling the end product.

You make it sound as if feeling nerdy, isolated and miserable as compared to angry and

cynical, is a waste of time when it comes to Radiohead in the 90s.

None of these feelings, in moderation, are detrimental, ya know?!

How does Radiohead remind you of Pearl Jam? I'm not bustin' balls, that's just a comparison

People often like to compare Radiohead to other British bands like The Smiths or whatever, but the band's overall sound was originally closer to the American grunge bands of the time. I don't think they've gotten rid off that to this day either (it's in the way Yorke writes melodies). Maybe they shouldn't either, as it's probably part of their appeal.

Actually, that isn't as evident on the vocals as its on the guitars.

Eh, I can kind of see that on parts of Pablo Honey but by their second album I think they largely abandoned that sound. Certainly by the time they did Kid A there was very little, if anything, in their sound that could be compared to Pearl Jam or other "grunge" bands.

other than Electioneering (which is the best ripoff/tribute of 60s British rock I ever heard in the 90s) I'm not that mad about the songs...

my other favorites are Subterranean Homesick Alien, Exit Music, Climbing Up the Walls and Let Down

my least fav The Tourist (it makes me laugh), Airbag and oh! the irony Paranoid Android, Karma Police and No Surprises (which irritates me)

top 5 favorite albums. love the shit out of this record . especially dig paranoid android, subterranean homesick alien, exit music (for a film) ("we hope... that you choke" ), climbing up the walls (which is strangely kinda sexy to me . would love to find a girl and do freaky things to her to this song ), no surprises and lucky. the rest is very decent as well. not the album that got me into radiohead (amnesiac was the first of their's that i bought, love that shit too, love most of their stuff), but probably my favorite. awesome stuff

i think it's really powerful music. It's kind of cheesey, but everytime I hear a song from it - "Climbing Up The Walls", recently - I get chills. It sounds like tectonic plates moving.

That said, the lyrics are SO identified with my high school years - the melodrama! - that I rarely go back to the album.

"Let Down" is my favorite Radiohead song, ever.

Bought it when it came out and thought it was terrific, never really got Radiohead's subsequent beatification, and all the "best album of the last..." palaver. The singles I find grating apart from the breakdowns on Android and the outro for Karma. Exit Music and a few others prefigure the depressing headfuck direction they were heading, but Let Down harkens back to the Bends, which I prefer. I think I used to really like the ethereal spooky one at the end, and Electioneering.
