Stevie Nicks‘ stage persona might involve a lot of frilly things like candles, dry ice and horses, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t willing to get down to some stone cold violence when provoked.

Nicks demonstrated her propensity for vengeance during a recent interview with the Daily, when she was asked to weigh in on the recent kerfuffle involving ‘American Idol‘ judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, who erupted in a screaming match on the set when Minaj allegedly threatened to shoot Carey.

“How dare this little girl,” observed Nicks. “If I had been Mariah, I would have walked over to Nicki and strangled her to death right there.” And just to drive the point home further, she added, “I would have killed her in front of all those people and had to go to jail for it.”

Nicks later added that she didn’t think she was cut out for the whole singing competition judging gig, saying, “If you stick me in the middle of a burning fire, I don’t think I’d like it very much.” But if you ask us, a little of her no-nonsense ‘tude would go a long way toward cutting out the shenanigans on reality TV. Can we get Stevie to do triple duty on ‘Idol,’ ‘X Factor‘ and ‘The Voice‘?

Minaj is a useless piece of trash.

But I also get the feeling that Stevie would've strangled Mariah to death had Mariah said to Stevie the things she said to Nicki.

I'm good at freezing things out. Had it been me I would've acted like Mariah didn't exist every second of the day. If she didn't change her attitude it would've had to be something the producers would've had to deal with.

In other words no fake comraderie.

Don't feel bad for Mimi. She might be a regal diva, but she's still a Long Island diva who knows how to take care of herself when somebody crosses the line, just ask Cameron Diaz about it.

Mimi ain't bothered, she could still see through all that toothless barking, and when push comes to shove, that lil' clown will take all the seats in the Yankee staduim.

Nicki isn't mature. She should've been all, 'Yeah Mariah', and collect her 12 million dollar paycheck.

Stevie is such a class act so I respect her feeling the need to apologize but I wish she wouldn't have. Nick Minaj has no business being on that show as a judge. When will the show realize that? Stevie Nicks is a legend. How long will Nicki Minaj last??

In a statement sent to Lifeline Live, she says: “I want to apologize for my remarks about Nicki Minaj’s behavior toward Mariah Carey which I said during a long and exhausting day of interviews. It was very out of character for me and I deeply regret what I said. I feel very protective toward Mariah Carey who has gone through many difficulties in her life and I spoke without thinking. I think all artist should be respectful toward one another and that includes me. I am truly sorry.”

I guess Stevie didn't get the memo: it's all a publicity stunt

That's the danger of the media, mainly left media, say anything or start something that's obviously fake and people will think it's a real feud. It got to Stevie like it got to some others who still wonder who will vote for whom on American Idol.

See to me, if she would had just left her comments as is and owned it, then I would have had a greater respect for Stevie than now where she's RETRACTING her statement. Lawd.

Exactly. If she just said "no comment", then I'd be like "cool" but see people want a story and her comment gave them opportunity to use it to add fuel to the fire.

Co-sign, I'm sure the whole "beef" is all sad attempt to boost ratings (if not relevance) of a dying franchise. I hope this is the last year for that BS show, and Nicki gets the full blame for tearing it down lol.
