New Whitney Houston album due in November, is it needed?

by mrldavis
25, September 2012Album NewsNo Comments

Like many others from the grave, Whitney Houston is set to release a new album. Although the album will not feature any new material, aside from a rendition of “I look to you” which will feature R.Kelly, the album will just be a collection of her greatest hits.

I know what you are thinking, doesn’t Whitney already have greatest hits albums? I’m thinking the same thing, it is almost like they want to use the well until it runs dry.

I would have liked if they added some of Whitney’s gospel recordings on this album as any fan knows that was Whitney’s number one love, God.

Below is the track listing. The release date is set for November 13th.

1. You Give Good Love
2. Saving All My Love for You
3. How Will I Know? (Remastered)
4. Greatest Love of All
5. I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Remastered)
6. Didn’t We Almost Have It All
7. So Emotional (Remastered)
8. Where Do Broken Hearts Go?
9. I’m Your Baby Tonight
10. All the Man That I Need
11. I Will Always Love You
12. I’m Every Woman
13. I Have Nothing (Remastered)
14. Exhale (Shoop Shoop)
15. I Believe in You and Me (Film Version)
16. My Love Is Your Love
17. I Look to You (with R. Kelly)
18. Never Give Up

I wonder what Vainandy thinks about this. razz

Yeah, this is a very disappointing compilation. Some hits are missing and the whole thing seems hastily thrown together.

Her first GH was screwed with the weird sequencing and the remixes. A single disc compilation with the regular versions of her hits was needed for the US, she must be the only major solo artist not to have one. There's a deluxe edition with more songs like "My Name Is Susan", but everything might be subject to change since there was no press release of it yet, just iTunes screencaps.

Of course for hardcore music lovers a GH like this in 2012 means nothing but for the general public this is a nice Xmas gift to pick up.

I Love Whitney.. i do.

But i NEVER want to hear I Will Always Love You again eek as if the song was not overplayed before her tragic eeath.. now.... it's like eek eek eek eek eek

This woman had so many hits, i realize that chart wise that was her biggest, but constantly choosing that one to be shown when talking about whitney & now the greatest hits is named that.

This song need's to take a motherfucking nap lol

Her original greatest hits in the states only had remixes of her non-ballads. So yes, it is needed. Though a 2 disc would be preferrable.

Guess there isn't enough material for an actual "new" album? For instance, I read that Donna Summer was working on a new album before she became ill and there might be enough material to release a new album...

Plus why leave top 10 hits like Miracle & Love Will Save The Day off in favor of I Look To You?

I mean i enjoy I Look To You.. but i think the best version of it was the one R did at Whitney's fineral.

Idk the duet to me is not bad, it's great to see the two of them together on 1 track. It just lack's punch and i feel there is just not much going on in it. But idk that's just me nuts

They know they have some vault material they could have included instead of recycling what's already out there and slapping a pretty picture on it. What a complete waste of time.bored

[Edited 9/25/12 13:28pm]

whether its needed or not is really subjective, in terms of making cash for the label, industry, family it is needed, and for some that have no Whitney or some this kind of ties it all together somewhat, its not unlike any other BEST OF round the season

They pimping MJ after his death so they might as well pimp Whitney to...I refuse to give Sony any of my money for those rehashed songs. That Mj didn't even want out in the first place. He was a perfectionist..Prince recently mentioned that someone will be releasing his "Vault" material after he is gone. That means he condones it...

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

I think it's great. I could use it to pick up dog shit out of the front yard. Just slide it with the CD onto the little plastic cover. Kinda like a miniature disposable dust pan. lol

Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox produced the previously unreleased track “Never Give Up." It could prove worthwhile and a posthumous hit.

Whitney Houston Gets Grammy TV Special with Usher, Jennifer Hudson

whitney-houston-

I told you some weeks ago that Whitney Houston would get a memorial CBS special. Well, it’s just been announced officially. Jennifer Hudson and Usher are the first two stars announced. The show, We Will Always Love You, will tape on October 11th in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theater. The public can buy tickets in Ticketmaster. I expect R. Kelly will be added, as he’s featured on the new greatest hits package coming from RCA shortly. Kelly mixed up a new duet of the song he wrote for Whitney called “I Look to You.” The special will feature interviews and clips. They should really include Jermaine Jackson, Narada Michael Walden, and the original people from Arista who helped put together the first couple of Whitney Houston albums. The special will air in December on CBS.
