Yeah but Fiona walks off stage and screws her fans out of tickets so theres a big difference, she takes it out on her fans, he took it out on the stage

This wasn't about Usher and Bieber, this is about someone who has anger management problems. If he and his band knew they didn't have long, why even agree to do it? I don't buy his outburst. bored2

And I agree with Matty...

As far as them being a good or bad band i could care less mainly because they are from a decade that destroyed 2 genres of music, the 90's ruined Rock and Rb all in one shot. As for beiber like i was saying "metaphor" beiber is everyones whipping boy now, like chris brown so they should expect it. As for the outburst, the set was changed before they went on stage not before they signed on, so there was NO notice, thats what this article fails to mention, they were cut short during the event, and trust me there have been others that had "moments" like this, minus the cursing which was just dumb, and he is not a threatening person at all, look at him, hes like Prince's size for god sakes, the girls in the audience could beat him down. But there have been KNOWN happenings like this where an artist is cut down while on stage, THAT is not professional so him smashing the stage was just desserts for them.

CORRECTION: Nirvana & Pearl Jam "killed" rock & roll. And Hip-hop soul (READ: Mary J.Blige & Sean Combs) killed r&b/soul.

Shame on you for blaming Green Day for the wrong things. no no no! lol

Yeah, at least Green Day did something interesting. Other than Pink's set, everything else I saw while waiting for Prince to come on seemed lame and uninspired. Didn't Enrique Iglesias make some comment about being "too old for this?" Prince was making records when he was three years old.

I've thrown that same tantrum - it's tough when you have built up all this energy for the stage and suddenly it has nowhere to release itself, so it blows up. And if you have a defiant kinda vibe going then you're not likely to go "well, sorry folks, them's the breaks, see you all later, hope you enjoy Bon Jovi."

Armstrong may be right that some of these acts suck but the place to rant about it is not on stage in front of all those peoples' fans.

It might have more meaning if you did a show for all the true punk rockers and charged six bucks a head as an alternative to your fans having to go to the Power 103 Festival and sit through a bunch of stuff they don't like to hear some Green Day.

By agreeing to be on that bill they have made themselves complicit in whatever wankery they're protesting. They have to get out of the way for Usher because in that room, he's more famous than them, even if he started later than 1988. They would like him to get out of their way because, they're so famous they should get to push people around. That ain't punk, that's rock star bullshit.

Bob, you of all people know that GD are not puk and basically are a pop band in disguise.

Green Day of all people did belong at that Clear Channel concert, probably more thana Beiber or Usher.

Jonathan Rotten et. al. wouldnt have even entertained the idea.

I dont believe that rehab stuff. This all seems so calculated. Uno must suck or ths is some weird ass marketing strategy for notoriety (yeah I know GD doesn't need any added notoriety after there huge success last decade) but something smells fishy.

It is strange... Green Day ain't been in the news like this in a while. I keep wondering if it's about that new album they're about to release?

Also anyone calling Green Day a punk band needs to get their punk fan card revoked...

Seriously dude, why get mad about the state of music today? It's been declining for quite some time now and that's not all because of Justin Bieber...who wasn't even performing or there for that matter (not defending the Biebs but throw blame at the real reason like a mature adult should). They don't have to like the state of current music but they have to accept that it sucks donkey balls now so either swim in it or get out of it because bitching about it isn't gonna just make it go away.

I like a few Green Day songs but to me they stopped being really punk after 'Dookie' came out JMHO. You can't sell as many albums as that album did and then make a whole successful Broadway play off of another album years later and expect me to believe you are as hardcore as you were before the success and fame tainted your lifestyle. Sorry, but Green Day became pop a long time ago to me and unfortunately for them they aren't as big on the pop scale as artists like Rihanna and Usher. If they want more stage time, they need to do their own concert where no one will give them only 1 minute to finish.

Personally, I could give two shits less about a Green Day because as far as I'm concerned the P!nk/Gwen Stefani duet was more hardcore than Green Day has been in a long time:

Two of the baddest chicks rockin' the stage together...YESSSS!!!!! As far as I'm concerned, they could have docked an extra 10 minutes from the 15 already taken from Green Day so they could have gotten more than just one song duet from these two kickass ladies. *Crosses fingers for another P!nk/Gwen collabo in the 2012*

I'll be the defender. Green Day does PLENTY of their own shows with more stage time. Recently they did a few "secret shows" at small venues and let all their fans know. I saw them last year and they gave a 3+ hour performance. They are true rock and roll professionals. They love their audience up and down. Their hearts are in it all the way. They tour constantly and have a global audience. He was being dissed by the producers and should be treated better for all Green Day is worth. Their last album was fanstic and won a grammy for best rock album. GO GREEN DAY! biggrin

I Worked on a Green Day music video... and met the guys briefly. The other 2 are pretty chill, Billie blowjob armstrong has a huge ego though. Youc an tell the minute you walk in the door....

He really believs Green Day where the savior of punk music or some shit.... there the creation of pop-punk lol & he think's they are entitled to do more then most bands & are legends.

I think the success of American Idiot & to a lesser degree 21st centure breakdown .. gave him a huge head about the state os his band.

I met him and the rest of the band just before the release of 21st century. I worked at the theatre where American Idiot: The Musical was first developed. The band spent long hours at the theatre over a period of months and worked closely with many of my co-workers. Everyone found him, Mike and Tre to be gracious, generous, down-to-earth. (well, someone complained that Tre was a little aloof). But Billie was insanely open, accessible, never showed ego. There was just love all around.

At the end of the day, they chose to be on a roster full of pop artists at a pop themed music festival. Of all the music festivals rolling around the country right now, why do this one when it's pretty known they cater to the pop artists and that includes those like Justin Bieber. That's like complaining that it's hot while wearing thermals, a jacket, mittens, snow boots, ear muffs, and a scarf. If that was me, seeing Rihanna's and Taylor Swift's names on the roster would have automatically caused me to respectfully decline to perform at this festival. I dont believe that rehab stuff. This all seems so calculated. Uno must suck or ths is some weird ass marketing strategy for notoriety (yeah I know GD doesn't need any added notoriety after there huge success last decade) but something smells fishy.

I don't know about the marketing angle, but I think checking into rehab, these days, is what celebrities do when they've 'sinned' and are seeking to gain absolution in the eyes of the public. It's got an air of a kind of pseudo-religious ritual about it: first, there's the transgression, then it's demanded that you take yourself off to a place that is holy and pure, where the high priests will purify you by ridding you of your demons, and then you can be welcomed back into the fold. pray innocent

It makes me laugh, the way celebs are straight off the rehab clinic every time they make a complete arse of themselves in public, as though the fact they were drunk/stoned/whatever was the sole cause of them behaving like they did. I mean, Mel Gibson checked into rehab days after his famous rant, but surely no-one seriously thinks that the drink alone made him into an aggressive, paranoid, anti-Semitic bastard! He was like that anyway; the booze just loosened his tongue. Likewise, I'd be willing to bet that our little smasher in the clip most likely has a typical rock star ego bubbling away even when he's stone cold sober. Hell, it goes with the territory. Plus, the amusing thing here is that, unlike, say, Mel Gibson, who did something truly noxious, this wasn't even that bad; it was just a bit a teenage foot-stomping and a slightly wimpy guitar smash at a daft little pop festival. Call off the priests and just admit you were being a bit of a dick, I say. lol
