Trent Reznor's How to Destroy Angels Announces New EP

September 21, 2012

Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor has announced that his group How to Destroy Angels has cut a deal with Columbia Records for a series of new releases beginning this fall.

The first project under the new partnership will be a six-song EP called An Omen, due November 13 in both digital and 12-inch vinyl formats.

Although no further details were announced, in an open letter on his Facebook page, Reznor says of the group, "We are making some videos, we are going to be performing live, and that's all the details I have for now on those matters."

How to Destroy Angels features Reznor and his wife Mariqueen Maandig, as well as Atticus Ross, who worked with Reznor on the soundtracks for the movies The Social Network and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Also in the lineup is graphic designer Rob Sheridan who worked on many Nine Inch Nails projects.

The new EP follows up the group's 2010 self-titled debut EP, and Ross' and Reznor's 2011 Oscar win for their Social Network score.

Reznor Gives Details On New How To Destroy Angels Music And Record Deal

September 24, 2012

Trent Reznor has announced an upcoming release from How To Destroy Angels. Reznor's remained busy since ceasing touring operations with Nine Inch Nails-- having scored David Fincher's films The Social Network and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, the former of which earned him and HTDA bandmate Atticus Ross an academy award.

The band released their first self-titled EP in 2010, and has announced that a second EP-- entitled An Omen-- will come out this November, followed by an as-of-now untitled full length album next year on Columbia Records. This marks Reznor's first partnership with a major label since his contract with Interscope came to an end in 2007.

Reznor's wife, Mariqueen Maandig is also in the band. They have partnered with acclaimed art director Rob Sheridan, who will be in charge of How To Destroy Angels' visual elements. Nine Inch Nails fans may recognize Sheridan as the director of multiple NIN music videos and producer of much of their album artwork.

The band has suggested that material from An Omen will appear on next year's album and that in the meantime they will be performing live, according to Fact Magazine.

I thought the 2010 EP was very blah, particularly the vocals. But I will still give the new EP a listen.

Judged by the vocals and the appearance she might be more like his Mayte.

Great use of synths, great choice of synths, substandard vocals and an outdated IDM-ish drum pattern.
