Madonna and her crew celebrated President Obama with a stunning special t-shirt sporting the fantastic OBMA artwork created by our longtime friend, artist David Kawena.

The image below shows the crew supporting Obama during the show rehearsals in Pittsburg, but the t-shirt made it also to the actual show - celebrating the re-election.

From the review by Scott Mervis, Pittsburgh Post Gazette:

Madonna is a 'girl gone wild' for Obama in Consol concert

Most Americans got their election returns Tuesday night from Brian Williams, Wolf Blitzer or one of the other distinguished anchors.
The beautiful people packed into Consol Energy Center found out who their next president was from, of all people, the woman who dances around in lingerie and sings "Like a Virgin."
It was quite a way for Madonna to spend her first night in Pittsburgh since 1985. To be exact, it started Tuesday night and ended Wednesday morning. She hit the stage around 10:45, thinking perhaps that the fans who paid hundreds for the tickets didn't have jobs to get to the next morning.

What her patient and long-suffering Pittsburgh fans got was a highly choreographed, highly stylized pop spectacle and an Obama victory celebration from one of the artists who helped re-define pop spectacle in the '80s.
She's had a knack for throwing her sexed-up dance-pop into the face of her Catholic heritage, and we didn't have to wait long for it Tuesday. The stage was set as a cathedral with robed monks performing a mass under a fiery, swinging thurible, when Madonna burst out of the confession booth in gangsta black to confess her sins and sing (along with the track to) "Girl Gone Wild," the monks turning into her spectacular topless dancers.

It launched her very physical concert journey from darkness to light, breaking down roughly into a narrative of religion, violence, sex and spiritual release.
"Revolver" took us from god to guns, with murderous Madonna and her girl dancers packing heat that went off during "Gang Bang," blood soaking the video screens as she sang "bang bang, shot ya, shot my lover in the head" and did a balletic tussle with a dancer in a Tarantino-looking motel scene. "Papa Don't Preach" was a brief roll on the floor before she was manhandled and bound by military thugs doing a cool tightrope dance, which she joined, on "Hung Up."
It was a relief when things turned sweet and bubbly, the 54-year-old Madonna marching around in a majorette uniform for "Express Yourself," combined with its knockoff, Lady Gaga's "Born This Way." "She's not me!" Madonna chanted with her backup singers, bringing us to the cheerleader pop of "Give Me All Your Luvin'," complete with a marching band suspended from ropes.

In the Euro-styled mid-section, things went off script when Madonna learned that "my baby, Barack" had been re-elected. After the wild Eastern European dance on an "Open Your Heart" that was more jubilant than ever, she yelled "Do you know what just happened?!" and led the crowd in a chant "[f] yeah." When she heard a few boos, she said, "I love you too, but I want a president with a moral compass." She briefly apologized for her partisanship, then added, "Why am I sorry!?" It led her into an impromptu version of "Holiday" with a spinning "happy dance," as she called it, and a bit more emotion on the ballad "Masterpiece."
We mentioned sex, right? Yeah. Things got racy, as she was groped by a dancer on "Candy Shop," while singing "my sugar is raw," and she stripped down to a bustier and a thong, as she promised if Obama won, for "Human Nature"/"Like a Virgin," done as a slow dirge that showed off her most seductive vocal. The segment ended with her writhing and rolling in money she asked people to throw on stage for Hurricane Sandy victims as she sang "Love Spent."

For the big climax, the whole crew went Shaolin style for "I'm Addicted" and the world beat "I'm a Sinner" building to a rousing gospel version of "Like a Prayer," capped with a trip to the modern disco for "Celebration," with a shout of "We won!"
Needless to say, it was quite a bit different than the '85 show when the young star pranced around to simple catchy pop songs like "Borderline" and "Lucky Star." That was an unforgettable one for her teen fans. A lot of those same fans were back for this very different, much more expensive and somewhat more divisive experience with the grown-up Madge. Between the late hour, the eye-popping production, the elaborate dances, the striptease and the night's historic events, Pittsburgh's Madonna fans will always remember where they were on Election Night 2012.

Rhianna wants Madonna collaboration

Rihanna has revealed that she would love to collaborate with Madonna after hailing the singer as “the s***” during her Facebook Live chat yesterday (8th November).

The ‘We Found Love’ singer admitted that she has always looked up to the 54 year-old star, especially when she was younger.

“You know, Madonna is one of those artists who was very self-expressive, she was bold, she was fearless, and all of those were things I looked up to as a young woman,” she confessed.

The Bajan star revealed that she enjoys being expressive in her own career and takes inspiration from the ‘Give Me All Your Luvin” singer.

“I really just wanted to be myself and feel free to express it and not really be afraid of what people think about it,” she added. “Madonna’s still the s**t, and she’ll always be Madonna. She’s the queen.”

Host of the chat, Andy Cohen, posed the question if she would like to work with Madonna on a song together, to which she replied: “That would be so sick. I would love to. Who knows? Let’s put it in the air.”

During her interview, Rihanna also praised such stars as Beyonce, Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga and also hit back at reports she was back dating ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.

Madonna to go on trial in Russia

Russian court has ruled that there is sufficient evidence to sue Madonna for promoting gay rights during her ‘MDNA’ tour, according to reports.

In August of this year, it was reported that the singer had enraged some citizens by handing out pink anti-homophobia wristbands to crowd members during a show in St Petersburg and telling them to “fight for the right to be free”. Her stunt was in response to a new regulation adopted in St Petersburg in March of this year, which saw the city’s yearly gay pride parade banned as it promoted “gay lifestyles” and the “propagation of homosexuality” – both of which have now been outlawed.

A lawsuit was subsequently submitted by members of the Union of Russian Citizens, the People’s Assembly and the New Great Russia party against the singer, with a lawyer for the group claiming that her actions caused “psychological stress and emotional shock” amongst the audience.

Now, according to The Times, a court in St Petersburg has given the go-ahead for the £6.5 million lawsuit to continue as the singer “crossed a line” by handing out the bracelets to “children as young as 12″. Madonna did not attend the hearing and is not expected to be present at future court dates relating to the trial, either.

Madonna courted controversy throughout her tour of Russia. Previously, she used the Moscow-leg of the jaunt to express support for the jailed members of Russian punk collective Pussy Riot. In a speech to the 20,000 strong crowd, Madonna said: “I think they have paid the price for this act and I pray for their freedom,” before stripping to her bra to reveal the words ‘Pussy Riot’ written on her back. For ‘Like A Virgin’ she donned a balaclava similar to those worn by the band. She was later dubbed a “moralising slut” by Russian politician Dmitry Rogozin for her comments.

Madonna Bites Back At Booing Fans in Her Hometown of Detroit

President Obama may have won the nation’s popular vote by 2.4 percent, but apparently—and perhaps shockingly—those backing the Prez for #2Termz aren’t Madonna fans.

Or at least not the ones living in Detroit and New Orleans.

Madge was booed two Saturdays ago in NOLA when she voiced her support for Obama’s campaign. And just last night in her hometown, she was booed by Motor City fans when she said she was “ecstatically happy” about his reelection, according to the Detroit Free Press. Only this time, the jeering crowd pushed Madonna over the boo-orderline.

“You can boo all you want,” Madonna responded. “But I’ve been to countries around the world where people can’t vote for their leaders.” Taking it all in stride, she then offered this quip to one of her backup dancers: “In the Basque language, ‘boo’ means ‘I love you.’” Yeah, that was probably what they meant, Mr. Burns.

She then went on to try to find some common ground with the crowd, talking about her Detroit roots and how that influences her infamously insane work ethic. “This place made me who I am: A hardworking girl,” she said. “Detroit is having a comeback. I can feel it in my bones. We’re coming back. So watch out.”

After Madonna's Booed Political Views, Are Celebs The Right People To Endorse Political Leaders?

After Madonna's Booed Political Views, Are Celebs The Right People To Endorse Political Leaders?

Madonna's latest tour MDNA has faced controversy for months. It began with her bizarre choice of using a swastika in a video included in the show, which she subsequently removed (The Guardian), and has continued with her unsympathetic use of a gun at a concert in Denver just months after 12 innocent people were murdered in a gun rampage in the city. Most recently in her endorsement of Barack Obama she referred to him as a 'black Muslim' (when actually he's a mixed race Christian) and told the crowd in New Orleans to vote for him, resulting in waves of boos and cheers, reported by the LA Times.

Despite repeated controversy, Madonna nevertheless persists in her 'political statements' and has never shied away from letting the world know her opinion. It ends up begging the question, firstly whether her comments will actually affect anyone's political view points- thus whether her statements are really worth their salt? And secondly, whether celebrities are the right kind of people to be endorsing anyone? The answer to these questions is largely 'no', but on some conditions.

Firstly, no, almost no one will be affected by her comments and therefore they really aren't worth much. Yes, she'll have some crazed fans who will do whatever she says. This would probably include eating their pet's excrement if the Vogue star said it was a good idea. Everyone else (hopefully) is autonomous enough to make up their own mind. And secondly, no, celebs on the whole are probably not the right people to do political endorsing. Or at least, not always. Eva Longoria gave a rousing speech that made a lot of sense and was well informed at the Democratic National Convention saying "Eva Longoria flipping burgers at Wendy's needed a tax break, Eva Longoria on movie sets does not". Sadly, there are far too many celebs like Lindsay Lohan who chop and change their political views as and when it suits their own needs, which may just effect those 'crazed fans' and may just sway the vote on ungrounded views.

Lady Gaga nixes joining Madonna on stage, feud marches on (Video

Lady Gaga allegedly rebuffed Madonna’s recent invitation to join her onstage, according to MTV today. Madonna was performing her “MDNA” tour show in St. Paul, Minn., Sunday when she brought up Lady Gaga telling the audience, “I invited her onstage to sing with me. But she turned me down”. The two singers have long been said to have locked horns since Madonna hinted in an interview that Lady Gaga’s song “Born This Way” was really just a remix of her song “Express Yourself”.

Madonna has taken swipes at Gaga before, but in the latest one she continued by telling concert-goers, “I have the best fans in the world. So take that, Lady Gaga!…It's OK. I've been rejected before. It builds a little character”.

Madonna’s war of words with Lady Gaga may have its roots in her long running feud with Elton John, since he’s quite close with Gaga, who’s even godmother of his young son Zachary. Who can forget Elton John’s interview in August when he opened up old wounds with some provocative name calling.

Elton was asked a question about Madonna and replied, “She’s such a nightmare. Her career’s over…and she looks like a f***ing fairground stripper. She’s been so horrible to Gaga”, he exclaimed.

Of course, this goes all the way back to 2004 when Elton accused Madonna of lip-syncing while he was accepting an award. Then he reignited the feud earlier this year on “Good Morning America”, when he offered up some performance advice for Madonna’s Super Bowl halftime show. John advised the pop icon to “lip-sync good”.

In an interview with ABC’s “20/20” Madonna said of Gaga's song, “When I heard it on the radio… I said that sounds very familiar. It feels reductive”. By definition she meant that Gaga’s “Born This Way” is crude or minimized, according to the Daily Gossip.

Then in a Newsweek interview, Madonna continued her blasting of Lady Gaga’s song saying it was “a wonderful way to redo” her 1989 song “Express Yourself”. Madonna added, “I mean, I recognized the chord changes. I thought it was…interesting”.

As part of Madonna’s current tour, she even plays a mash-up of the two songs, ending with the refrain “she's not me”. And while visiting Brazil in July she said on a TV show, “I'm a really big fan of ['Born This Way']. I'm glad I helped Gaga write it”.

Madonna, 53, should tread lightly with devoted Mother Monster fans, as backlash from her latest move already has people sniping that she’s perpetuating a feud with Gaga in order to stay relevant. On “Billboard”, one fan slammed Madonna writing, “On another note, how do you think Madonna looks by using Gaga to stay [in] the news”?

In September while on tour, the “Vogue” diva told her audience in Atlantic City that, “Imitation is the highest form of flattery”, when once again speaking about Gaga. She went on to say, “But one day, very soon, we're going to be on stage together. Just you wait. You think I'm kidding? I love Lady Gaga”.

It looks like it’s not going to be any day too soon since the North American leg of Madonna's "MDNA" tour is ending November 20 in Miami.

Why Did Lady Gaga Turn Down Madonna's Duet Offer?

We all know there’s been no love lost betweenLady Gaga and Madonna these last few months but did Mother Monster really turn down the opportunity to duet with the Godmother of Pop?

According to Madonna herself, she invited Gaga to perform onstage with her but found herself on the receiving end of a rebuttal. During her concert at St. Paul, Minnesota, Madonna told the crowd “I have the best fans in the world, so take that, Lady Gaga!” She then added that she had reached out to Lady Gaga and invited her to sing onstage with her during the recent tour. “You know, I invited her onstage to sing with me. But, she turned me down. It's okay. I've been rejected before. It builds a little character." The Huffington Post tried to contact Lady Gaga’s representative, to see if there’s any truth in the matter but didn’t hear either way.

It’s not clear exactly what Madonna asked her to sing, or why Lady Gaga said no to the offer. Perhaps she’d asked her to sing ‘Express Yourself,’ the song that she’s accused Gaga of ripping off, with her own track ‘Born This Way.’ There seems to be a fair bit of animosity between the two pop queens, so we wouldn’t be surprised if there was a reason behind Gaga’s refusal. Madonna’s North American tour ends in Miami on November 20, before she take the MDNA tour to South America.

Review: Madonna show big on pageantry, not on favorites

5:17 AM, November 9, 2012 |
Madonna performs "Express Yourself" and "Give Me All Your Luvin'" during her concert at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Mich. on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012. It was a homecoming for Michigan's leading pop daughter, who arrives as her six-month MDNA Tour winds into its final weeks.

The relationship between Madonna and Michigan has often seemed vaguely uneasy: long stretches without tour dates, Midwestern accents discarded for British ones, a lingering sense of abandonment.

But Thursday night at Joe Louis Arena, the Rochester Hills-bred superstar summoned ample hometown sizzle in the latest stop on her MDNA Tour, for a capacity crowd that appeared to number about 14,000. (Show officials declined to release an attendance figure.)

“It’s no secret that I’m ecstatically happy to be here,” she said midway through the night, addressing a crowd largely made up of longtime, middle-aged fans with a healthy sprinkling of younger pop lovers in their midst.

At 54, the impressively fit Madonna was making her first-ever visit to the Joe -- and her first to Detroit since a mammoth Ford Field show four years ago this month.

While the venue was downscaled this time, the pageantry certainly wasn’t: On a sleek stage with mammoth video screens as backdrop, the two-hour show came with the kind of arty, Cirque-style flair that has graced Madonna’s tours for more than a decade now.

For concertgoers unfamiliar with -- or unfavorable to -- her latest material, the show may have felt like a long slog early on. Newer songs, including several from this year’s “MDNA” album, made up the bulk of the show’s edgy opening stretch. When the house was lighted during “Turn Up the Radio” to prompt fan participation, it was clear that most couldn’t sing along.

But anyone expecting a greatest-hits revue hasn’t been paying attention. It’s been years since Madonna stocked a set with front-to-back hits, and even when she did tap the classics Thursday, it was mostly to give them a musical recasting.

So Madonna spent her night in Detroit doing what she’s always done: pushing boundaries (the theatrical gunplay of “Bang Bang”), toying with sacred imagery (the monks and cathedral set of opener “Girl Gone Wild”) and delivering an array of dances, visuals and scenes that were as dynamic as they were meticulously disciplined.

Five months in, it’s clear that the MDNA Tour is a finely tuned machine (although fans disgruntled by the 10:45 p.m. start -- nearly three hours after the time emblazoned on their tickets -- might have a quibble with that). Flanked by band members in each corner of the stage, Madonna and her cast of dancers walked tightropes (“Hung Up”), donned tails and top hats (“Human Nature”) and served up supersized choreography (“Vogue”).

The bright majorette lines and dangling drummers of “Express Yourself” and “Give Me All Your Luvin’” were about the closest the night came to playing it straight. The once-vivacious “Open Your Heart” was given a rustic hue with help from the Basque trio Kalakan; “Like a Virgin,” with piano accompaniment, became a shuddering dirge in 3/4 time, performed by a half-naked Madonna who had just strip-teased onstage.

She found herself in a house divided when she broached the topic of Tuesday’s presidential contest: Several rounds of booing ...rack Obama.

All was seemingly forgiven, though, as Madonna moved into the show’s closing stretch, providing musical charms, unflagging energy -- and a vivid reminder how the Michigan girl became the world’s pop queen.

The tour, which began in May in Israel, has attracted huge crowds and no small amount of controversy for the ever-provocative singer.

The details: Befitting a Material Girl, the tickets are pricey. They start at $172 and top out at $357, plus fees. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show is at 8. Go to the Time Warner Cable Arena's website at timewarnercablearena.com or call 704-688-9000. To order tickets by phone, call 800-745-3000.
