Annie Lennox needed a man and she got one.
The Eurythmics crooner tied the knot last Saturday in London with Dr. Mitch Besser, her rep confirmed to People.
Sweet dreams indeed.
Per the U.K.'s Daily Mail , the bride wore a long white gown with a lace bolero shrug and a 1920s-style headpiece during the low-key ceremony, which took place on a private boat on the Thames River. The groom sported a simple gray suit and pastel tie.
Among the 150 or so family and close friends on hand for the occasion were Lennox's two daughters, 22-year-old Lola and 19-year-old Tali, who served as bridesmaids, and Oscar winner Colin Firth.
Annie confirmed the nuptials Saturday by posting a photo of her wedding bouquet.
"Wedding flowers: 15th September 2012," an elated Lennox tweeted .
The 57-year-old Scottish-born hitmaker met the 57-year-old American gynecologist two years ago while working with his South African-based HIV charity, Mothers2Mothers . Besser ended up leaving his wife and two teenage sons and moving out of his Cape Town family home to be with her.
This is the third go-round at wedded bliss for Lennox, who had previously sworn off marriage after the failure of her first two unions. She was previously hitched from 1984 to 1985 to German Hare Krishna devotee Radha Raman. She married Israeli film and record producer Uri Fruchtmann in 1988, with whom she had Lola and Tali. The pair divorced in 2000. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince. |
