Marley told The Voice that the pair had a good relationship but Lauryn wasn’t ready for marriage.

He spoke about their 5 children what kind of mother Lauryn was to them:

“[Our relationship] is good as in… in terms of being a mother and father to our children, it’s good. It’s not as perfect as one might want it to be. It’s just the way the road went.”

“As a man, there are certain things I don’t accept, and it just so happened that I didn’t accept certain things [in the relationship].
“It doesn’t mean she’s [Hill] a bad person or I’m a bad person. It just didn’t work out.”

Mr. Marley and I have a long and complex history about which MANY inaccuracies have been reported since the beginning. To speculate without the facts can only cause people to form WRONG conclusions. We both value privacy and for that reason defend and preserve our right to it. Contrary to the numerous reports, Mr. Marley did not abandon me while pregnant with his child. We have had long periods of separation over the years but our 5 children together remain a joy to both of us. Rohan had this to say:

I think people got confused when they started living with each other during or before the engagement.

The way I am interpreting it is Rohan says Lauryn Hill was not ready to do the things he required in order to marry her, and it probably involved some spiritual schitt he expected, hence she was "not ready".

Look, although I have no sympathy for both, I REALLY have none for Lauryn. If he does not feel that she is the right one for marriage, then maybe that should force her to take a good look at herself. Regardless of what people think about Rohan, he didn't exactly hold her hostage and tell her that she can't move. I find it interesting that with as much mouth as she has for everybody ele, she was unable to say to him, "Hey, I've had enough!". While it takes two to tango, it only takes one to say..."I'm tired". Rohan, was that person. Oh Well...

It takes 2 to tango. I am not just going to lay this at Lauryn's feet. I never got the feeling that she was scummy. Trifling and batshit crazy, yes, but scummy and taking advantage of someone's fluctuating mental state, no.

It's sad really. It just seems twisted... I can get having kids and being in love and not having to marry in the rules of the government and such (married in spirit or married by church or whatever) but their way of dealing with their relationship was nuts... he didn't divorce his wife when he was with Lauryn but then all of a sudden he leaves Lauryn and his wife and then gets engaged/married to another woman. Then you have Lauryn who was clinging to loser after loser and she didn't learn her lesson either.

People say things like this because they believe Lauryn is some sweet gal who never did anything wrong. I'm sure in reality, she has the same hang ups as many others do. People try to protect Lauryn and blame her men for everything. Look at the other thread on here about Wycelf. People just will not believe that Lauryn is to blame for anything that's happened to her.
