Interpretations, anyone?

I was just at another forum, apparently for dumb people, where they made comments like this:

*" The girls look ugly close up." (no shit? . They are meant to symbolize decay and ugliness )

* "The video was all over the place like his other videos. Fail." (LMAO. Completely missed the storyline and theme. Video was very cohesive from beginnign to end.).

* "John Mayer at the end ... random." (No, not random. Transformative as part of the story arc.).

Now, obviously since I'm not Frank or Nabil, I can't purport to have a lock on the interpretation.

But I can try:

First, the song is called Pyramids. The girls works at The Pyramid -- singular, not plural.

So clearly Frank is drawing our minds to the fact that there are two pyramids. In Egypt and ancient symbolism, the pyramid pointing upward shows humans reaching their higher transcendent self while the downward pointing one represents the lowest self.

Nevertheless, the body of a Great Pyramid has both downard and upward pyramids interconnected to create its rows and body. This shows that the lower and higher selves are connected.

The video shows Frank's transformation from someone living in the lower self to one striving for the higher state.

Absinthe, known for its hallucogenic properties and ability to transport people to an alternate consciousness, is a very strong spirit with such a percentage of alcohol it was once outlawed.

Frank drinks 4 of those mofos, dispensed in classic sugar cube delivery. This raises him to a higher state of mind, though inebriated. He now has upward pointing pyramids in his eyes. He destroys the other spirits/alcohols (shooting at the bottles).

He goes to the strip club (The Pyramid-- lower pyramid). It is very raunchy and full of debachery. But, in his higher state, Frank isn't finding this atmosphere sexy. HE looks at the girls and, on closeup, their faces look ugly and deathly to him: Symbols of decay.

He fuckin' laughs at their supposed sexiness. They touch him, he's not moved. As the girls dance in front of a pole, an upward pointing pyramid is in the back for contrast.

He leaves this pyramid and gets away from civilization to the desert where he finds an upward pointing Great Pyramid. The spirit of the pyramid (John Mayer) comes out playing guitar and it's like a genie of the pyramid has cast a spell on Frank and put him to sleep so he can wake a new man.

This desert pyramid has a downward facing blue pyramid in the center, again showing the contrast and interconnectedness.

Frank awakens a new man. A redeemed man, which is why he abandons his motorcycle the next morning. It was a symbol of the old world, his transport in the lower world of humanity.

He walks by it and toward a mountain shaped like an upward pointing pyramid, suggesting his evolution.

Or, I could just be drunk. What say u?

Quite nice but.....who do they make these expensive videos for these days? They don´t play them on MTV or any other TV station anymore.

They go straight to Youtube, don´t they?

miss ocean can release a 3 hour video and he is still boring i am trying my damnest to support the gay and i am having a hard time believing that he is gay i think the higher ups used him as a decoy to cover up a real big name from being outted cuz frank ocean judt dont do it for me at all

The Airplane -- As Frank awakens in in his new state and heads for his motorcycle, a plane flies overhead (flight, transcendence), a reminder to Frank about his new state. He cannot take that motorcycle anymore. And he doesn't.

At 4:06 in the video poles in the strip club aptly morph into prison bars.

(Dumbfucks on TWitter talking about the video makes them want to work in The Pyramid. Some people shouldn't listen to Frank without Cliffnotes. )

edit: Tree of Life -- That is actually the tree of life/flower of life symbol inside the Great Pyramid when John is playing, not an upside down pyramid. Frank has been obsessed with this symbol and has mentioned it and linked it on Twitter in the past (#STAN). OK.... so makes sense, since it's used in a scene of rebirth (Cue the Illuminati conspiracists).
