Epiphany of the day:
This hostility towards Brown might be a good thing. Maybe it'll ensure that something like this from him will never happen again, which is a good thing for all involved, leaving the motives of said hostility moot.

Does he technically beat women? Nahmean?

Not that I'm defending him, but the hypocrisy surrounding him and other celebrities who commit domestic abuse (male and female celebrities) stinks to high heaven...

How about this? Don't buy the album 'cause I heard it and I'm telling you it's whack.
But I liked most of that F.A.M.E. album!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Would the same backlash happen if it was a woman who beat a man? Just wondering.

I feels you.... Just because of that incident with Rihanna doesnt mean he beats women.
He was just 19 when that happened.
People need to leave him alone now. He apologize and thats it... I think this will stick with him to but his album seems to still be doing well and Fame also still did very well and garnered him a Grammy whether he deserved it or not.

lol you know the answer to that.

No. | |

the funny thing is that the whole industry brutalizes its females, if u take away all the females in music you'd have no labels no industry, all the guys would be singing on street corners broke. Women run the show, they are the ones still bringing in cash, what male is bringing in cash to a label? The Beatles? thats about it now, Coldplay a little, but outside that women make the money, adele, norah, beyonce, katy, rihanna, alicia etc...even if we hate on them as artists or eye candy etc...without them you wouldnt exist "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

ask Lionel Richie....he got his ass kicked and he took all the jokes and his career went to the toilet "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Thats because the women are the ones seen as sexual objects and sale sex... aside from Adele who came out with her album last year they all have made their entire careers off of that and appear to place that above the music.... that doesnt necessarily mean their running the show because in order to get to that point they have to follow orders from men.
Men have alot more power I think but as of currently there are alot more popular female singers than men

but when you think about it the ones selling just sex fall after a record or two. Now we just say that Rihanna and Katy Perry are selling SEX, but what then is Usher and Trey Songz selling? they are not that talented either "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Damn forgot Lionel's ex beat his and the mistress. The irony in all of that is that basically after he married the mistress, she treated him worse than the ex who beat his ass, ever did. Tried to take him to the bank when they got divorced too. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

It's always changed. In the 80's it was two men and one woman running the show. Even last decade Eminem was the business. I think it just depends on the times.

Your right and honestly there are men who do the same thing, try to sale sex but Ive always thought it was placed at a more higher level with women than with men.
Even D Angelo took a break from the spotlight once he realized people were more into his looks than his music, I think it depends on the celebrity and what they mostly want. It seems in todays industry singers do not care about being a serious artist and creating and just want alot of spotlight, cross over appeal and media attention.
Alot of these female singers are not really taken seriously as artists and more so just pop dominant stars in all areas, film, perfume, fashion etc and are considered to be sexy....... Although we bag on the industry for overrating artists like Beyonce, Rihanna, Katy Perry etc I think the industry knows their just popular marketing draws because of their popularity and looks and not really because their serious artists.
It seems like now currently Adele is starting to market herself with more sex appeal now that she has lost all her weight but the media/industry do not media spin her as a sex symbol because she didnt start off as that and was considered a overweight singer/songwriter that wanted to be acknowledge for her music and not her looks.

I know there are people who said they didn't hear him apologize.
I know it is difficult to stomach a sex symbol who is associated with such a turn-off.
But this isn't a new guy your sister is dating, he's a singer and performer who made a mistake.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yeah that to both. I just think this whole thing got blown way out of proportion because of that graphic picture of Rihanna was leaked, and the fact that Rihanna is a celebrity also. Because really I don't think I've seen the same backlash for other celebs who even hit their wife and girlfriends repeatedly.

How about it's just possible people didn't buy his shit because they think it sucks? Or maybe there is just too much downloading going on?

Oh shit. I just aw the sticker? I thought we were laughing at the price.

There's double standards aplenty in this world.
How else to explain the overwhelming acceptance of Prince Harry's nude photo "scandal". Had it been a woman she'd be labeled a tramp and ostracized. He's considered lovable.

You weren't alone because I saw the price sticker first...then as I was writing my response, I glanced again and saw the other sticker. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

smoothcriminal12 said: Would the same backlash happen if it was a woman who beat a man? Just wondering. Of course not. When a group that's been persecuted for years is hurt it becomes a much bigger story and is automatically domestic violence or a hate crime. Not supporting Chris on any level though. Can't stand that motherfucker
