September 30, 2012

It has been confirmed that Adele will sing the theme song for the new James Bond film, Skyfall. Former Adele collaborator Ryan Tedder has claimed that the singer's official track is the "best Bond song in my lifetime".

Adele and Sony Music are set to launch the single during the first week of October. It’s the singer’s first new song since her 21 album debuted in January 2010.

Below are some of the rumored lyrics for Adele's theme song for the new Bond movie Skyfall.

“This is the end/Hold your breath and count to ten/Feel the Earth move and then/Hear my heart burst again.”

“Let the sky fall/Let it crumble/We will stand tall/And face it all/together.”

“Skyfall/Is where we start/A thousand miles and poles apart/Where worlds collide/and days are denied/You can take my name/But you’ll never take my heart”

Full Details of Adele's Skyfall Theme Released; Song Coming Thursday

October 1, 2012

After weeks of "no comment," Adele's record company has finally released the full details of Skyfall, her theme song for the upcoming James Bond movie of the same name.

The song, which is now available for pre-order on iTunes globally, will debut on Adele's official site, Adele.tv, on Thursday, October 4 at 7:07 p.m. EST; by that time, it'll be October 5 in the U.K. You'll be able to purchase it right after the premiere.

Not coincidentally, October 5 is the 50th anniversary of the release of the first-ever James Bond film, Dr. No. It's being celebrated as Global James Bond Day.

In a statement, Adele says, "I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for Skyfall. There's a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song. But I fell in love with the script...and it ended up being a bit of a no-brainer to do it in the end."

She adds that it was "a lot of fun" writing a song for a specific project, which she'd never done before, and notes that "one of the proudest moments of my life" was when they recorded the string section for the tune at Abbey Road Studios.

A 77-piece orchestra backs up Adele on the track. She adds, "I’ll be back combing my hair when I'm 60 telling people I was a Bond girl back in the day, I'm sure!”

It sounds a little too close to the actual James Bond theme music for me. And the lyrics seem a bit forced. But she sounds great, as per usual. The next album is going to be a tough one tho, as it will be nearly impossible to top or even equal the success of 21.

Ryan Tedder must be too young to remember Shirley Bassey. I love what I've heard of Skyfall, so far. But this is the greatest Bond theme of all time...

Adele's New Single Impacts iTunes

October 5, 2012

Early on Friday morning, Adele released Skyfall, the haunting theme song she co-wrote and sang for the new James Bond movie of the same name, and within hours it was in the Top 3 on the iTunes singles chart in North America, and vaulted to number one in ten countries.

Great track!!! thumbs up!

Surely the best Bond theme song since "The world is not enough", possibly the best since "Goldeneye"!

Azz

I don't like it much

The last verse sucks

Her voice is dull, and when she attempts to hit the high notes it sounds atrocious, I don't like her cockney accent either - too chavy for my taste

i cant bare when she pronounces them as dem.. eugh

Bond songs usually do it for me, like this one too, although it could have had a stronger climax like "License to kill". But her voice is very warm...can't believe she's this young with a vice like that.

What a great idea!

if he put his mind to it, it could be so great. imagine clare fisher orchestration on it drool

well, his son would be orchestrating it at this point, but you know what i mean.

it would get him the exposure he seems to be craving so much still. and it would be a new

way of (re)introducing him to a mass market. people always get swept up in the whole 007

excitement and the promo machine for those films is just of intergalactic proportions.

Totally! I was trying to think of other songs he's done that could be considered Bond-esque. The only one I could come up with was When Eye Lay My Hands On U. Maybe Dance With The Devil? I guess that's a different topic though.

I agree with missfee that the song is ok but nothing special or extraordinary. I think people are just buying it because Adele recorded it and she's hot right now. I also agree with Azz that Adele doesn't sound so great on the higher/softer notes...

Nah, I think people are buying it because we finally have a nice song again that totally fits Bond, unlike the past few terribly forgettable ones.

meh

it's a decent but forgettable song, and I don't like it for a Bond film, not the instant neo-classics that GoldenEye, Surrender or You Know My Name were

this reminds me of The World Is Not Enough, but even slower and more depressing

I actually like Joss Stone's Bloodstone (for the videogame of the same name) better
