THE SYSTEM ARE BACK!!!! BRAND NEW 2012 SINGLE!!!

Brand new first single from David Frank and Mic Murphy!!! Single is called "Motha' Ungh Ungh" and it's the first track from the new album "System Overload"

It's fucking awesome.

http://www.soultracks.com...tem-mother

The pioneering synth duo The System, comprised of lead singer Mic Murphy and keyboardist David Frank, rode the '80s wave of emerging synth/MIDI music technology to help lay the foundation for contemporary electronic popular music with their upfront, unapologetic use of synths and intelligent songwriting. Their revolutionary single "You Are in My System" helped to usher in a new era of electronically based pop music, and their #1 hit, "Don't Disturb This Groove," set a permanent place for them in music history.

Well the duo is back and still making interesting, electronics-laden music. They have a new album, System Overload, coming soon and we have the first single, "Mother Ungh Ungh," as our newest First Listen. It is the unmistakeable sound of The System.

Check it out below and tell us what you think!

33 seconds in and I already like this song a lot. Thanks for the link. They´re staying true to their sound and style without sounding dated. I wish Prince´s last attempts of recreating his own creation , the Minneapolis Sound, would´ve been just as good as these guys who obviously understand what made their music interesting in the first place. I still dig Prince but it´s sad to see that other guys seem to know better how to recreate that 80s sound and take it to another, more updated level.

Don't like any of the new tracks, sorry. The first one is somewhat listenable, but not the second one.

Are you sure these songs are new and not some rehashed vault material? These sound too good to be new, too hot to be contemporary. lol This stuff sounds really, really good. I´ve always loved The System and still listen to their old stuff regularly. Don´t Disturb This Groove is on my mp3 player.

This is really good news, thanks a lot.

I really like the first one but the second one is not my cup of tea. But still, the first one is, in my opinion, really good considering that they haven´t made music together for such a long time. It has that trademark "The System" sound. The second one has a weird Europop sounding beat and I don´t like the vocals and lyrics. But I will definitely check out the new album.

It's definitely new material. David Frank is a friend of a friend and I've talked to him a few times via email. He has also blogged about the making of some of the songs on the album over the past year and what new synths he is using etc.

I agree, "Motha' Ungh Ungh" is killer and captures the best of their 80's sound but with a new hard hitting 2012 feel.

Whoa! 2 new songs by The System in one day? I can't handle this lol. Seriously, they are one of my fave bands of all time. I have been dying to hear something new from them forever. I love this first track. It sounds like classic System with a modern twist. The second one definitely sounds closer to what's "in" right now but it's not over the top so I like it. I hope the album sounds more like the first track over all, though. I am so excited. Is there a release date yet??

I agree. I'm glad to see they are back but these tunes just aren't that good

especially the second one. I liked the track they did on the United We Funk

All Stars cd back in 2000 better than these two.

It sounds no different than a top 40 song, it could easily be Bieber or One direction, but because its someone from the 80's you will say this is 'great

lol

Its a nice track, just don't hypocritical when someone young and modern does the same litteral thing.

Yeah but I don't think it's quite as over the top euro dance pop like most of the so called artists out there doing it today. I think it's in moderation. I didn't feel like they were beating me over the head with it.

For those of you lucky bastards that live in NY it looks likethe System are playing on Friday 9/28 in Brooklyn. I would give anything to go. sad

I didn't expect to like these tracks, but I definitely do, especially "Motha' Ungh Ungh." The second one isn't bad; the music kinda reminds me a bit of Basement Jaxx's "Where's Your Head At."
